Dead cheap:
https://www.waves.com/plugins/cr8-creat ... ve-sampler
I guess its aimed at quick results instead of features… (including impulse buys…)
I doubt its quicker than my Bitwig sampler though…

I mainly use Reaper but fire up Live when I want to play with samples at that level (ie. not just instrument libraries etc). CR8 reminds me a lot of simpler so thinking it would be a good compliment to Reaper (not that I have anything against Reasamplomatic5000.... :hihi:)

It seems very similar to Mimic in Reason (which is a lot of fun) and the free sample finder and 4 Gig library is a nice bonus as is 'root note' and BPM detection, 8 layers, 4 LFOs, 5 sample stretching types, filter per voice...I am pretty sure its more powerful than Bitwigs sampler 'on its own' (although obviously you can rack it up with other stuff to make it more interesting)

End of the day abouts about how fast (and fun) the work flow is and how good its sounds, but Its under 10 bucks...if you already have the waves shell running seems like a no brainer?

Edit- was for me, I won Bitwig and Mimic and still bought it :D
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

yeah, same here. moved to Reaper from Ableton, and the Live's sampler is the thing I miss the most, very creative instrument.

i bought this new waves plugin, it is really fun and easy to use tool, 100% stays in my arsenal

What is the quality of the stretch algorithm?

I do like the fact you can step through samples (click the sample name or use cursor up/down keys) to quickly swap out the loaded sample for a new one whilst keeping a lot of the program settings (LFO/filter etc): (44 seconds in)

generally I like to be able to < > navigate through waveforms like Kontakt can do, so this is comparatively useful

it's a shame COSMOS doesn't have a basic folder tree view though.

Also, I know it's not its main purpose but it would be good if it did multi-out audio and multi-in MIDI channel mapping.

I really like it. Great layout, (mostly) everything at a glance. It´s very fast to work with.

I have Atlas and it´s my first choice for drum samples. I own Kontakt 6 for the big libraries. I also own Sononym for my sample libraries.

CR8/Cosmos looks like a baby from Atlas & Sononym. Awesome combo. And I am glad that CR8 is a pure sample player with no additional FX like a delay/chorus/flanger section. And that it can handle more than drum and percussion sounds (unlike Atlas). And Cosmos has enough Metadata to find your stuff fast and easy plus you can import your samples straight into your sampler (unlike Sononym). CR8 is more limited than Atlas (eg. no sequencer, only 8 sample slots) and Sononym but I don´t miss anything right now. Great workflow. And I like that you can enable/disable folders in Cosmos.

Even for the full price (34.99$) it looks like a no brainer to me.

I second what jmp909_ said about Multi Audio out and Midi In. That would be dope.

But in the correct forum…

I wish COSMOS allowed multiple selections for drag and drop. I would like to grab areas in the map view and drop say 30 samples into an app

What up y'all, Waves actually g

ot the 2 points plus the freethrow off me cuz I was convinced to pay them for the first time by that miraculously low-priced Sampler plug-in

....I have ap couple theories why, but that was on Friday I believe, that I downloaded COSMOS and CR8..I actually ended up feeling more excited about COSMOS because I'v been trying to find a really solid Sample librarian with good cross-reference functionality.

As of now though, I can't really speak to how good either piece of software stacks up, as I cannot get COSMOS past its bootloader, and CR8 seems to require a prompt from cosmos

So in fairness, I've got a (mid-2012) Macbook Pro..but its got 16 gbs of RAM and 2 Solid State Terabyte drives. My machine honestly isn't slowing down really, for my ppurposes, which are almost entirely audio processing, but I'm pretty sure I've hit the ceiling running Mojave just because Mac imposed one of those "Update...or DIE" protocols.

But that's a problem for next year because according to my research, everything should be coming up Millhouse with these settings and so on... outside of the idea that perhaps I'm throwing too large of a software library at COSMOS to parse through in its first rotation (I actually haven't properly vetted that theory yet so I'm gonna do some library stress tests in a minute, but I wonder whats the size -in gb - of Portfolio that COSMOS will be looking for? In the meantime, its literally returning, "Error, please see Customer service" every time I boot! Just wondering if there are any Omega-Level powered Waves users out there who've got the solution like *SNAPPP!* .... or, even a 2 or 3 minute solution, Im not here to judge a deity's shortcomings....or character defects! ; )

Haven't had much time to play with it yet. I use Renoise, which already has very robust sampling capabilities. I wanted this because it looks like it has a couple of nice tricks and a good interface. Happy with the purchase, it's good - I normally have a "no Waves" policy (don't even bother with their freebies usually, because they are a PITA to install and maintain). But I broke my rule for this one, nice plugin.

I tried it yesterday with cosmos. Its definitely good for just 9.99$ and cosmos being free. Great alternative to XO or atlas. The only downside is it being waves :D, i try to avoid them where i can.

The Cosmos AI tagging system is very impressive.
CR8 comes with a ton of presets.
The modulations possibilities are cool.
Good UI.
Layering is a strong point.
The different stretch algorithms seems mediocre compared to Serato, Zplane, and also Reasons Mimic.
No FX.
Overall great value imo.
