Don't forget: the US has sale taxes. It's not 24% (we'd be throwing goods in the harbor if it were) but they range from about 3% to 7% based on the state. You can't complain about sales taxes/VAT to vendors...taxes are just a reality we all deal with and vendors have no control over. But yeah, the point about exchange rates is well taken. Most vendors do a piss poor job of that taking the simple approach of Euros/USD being the same or just quoting one price and letting the payment vendor adjust.manfex wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:04 pmIf something costs $100 at IK, it's also 100€, which is $112.5, then you take and add the 24% VAT on top of it, and it becomes $139.5. Even if the VAT is a government thing, the $100 price should be 88€ with the correct conversion rate.Tj Shredder wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 3:37 pm Basically the € prizes include VAT and the $ don't. If you want straight numbers you do it like that...
Anyways, it would be best to the customers if the plugins cost the same for everyone, some developers have this, they just deduct the VAT from their own profits, and everybody's happy.

Some states are more than 7%. My state is almost 9%.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:14 pmDon't forget: the US has sale taxes. In retrospect I wish I had bought MODO Drum as my group buy entry purchase instead of MODO Bass. They were priced the same, I didn't realize that I would be disqualifying myself from upgrade pricing for MODO Drum by doing it the way I did - getting both of those was one of my chief goals of the 25th Anniversary Group Buy, looks like I played my hand the opposite of how I should have. I have quite liked MODO Drum, and used it in some of my recording since picking it up! But, I can't swing $200 for three kits at this time.

There are plenty of developers (Steinberg, Fabfilter, Spitfire etc) include VAT in their prices. So everyone who pays in the same currency pays the same amount.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:14 pm

the most distasteful thing by the way is the pluginboutique, which also applies VAT to products where otherwise the development company does not differentiate between VAT prices (in my case add +27%).

I got it as a freebie in the grope sail, and I was using it in my M1 ARM native template, but then XLN put out native versions of Addictive Drums and Keys, which I've been using for at least 10 years now. MODO Drum sounds like a next-next generation drum machine to me. Better than my Roland R5, but not as good as sampled ADD.

Well, but be honest - do you really need three more kits or is it just the desire to have something new and shiny? There are already, what, 10 kits or so in there. Should be more than enough.Agreed wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:49 pm In retrospect I wish I had bought MODO Drum as my group buy entry purchase instead of MODO Bass. I received an e-mail on feb. 19 titled "MODO BASS or DRUM from $/€69.99!" with "Two Weeks Left of MODO Month 73% off MODO BASS & MODO DRUM - Our deepest discount ever!" and "MODO DRUM + MODO BASS BUNDLE $/€149.99".
It's not even valid since yesterday. False advertising!

Besides IK's weird update system, or that Australians are Italians when they visit their site,
or you have 180 days to download your kits...
I was at wits end trying to get good performance out of Modo drum 1.31, the 40% CPU issue didn't sense on my AMD Ryzen 9 5900X system, Now with 1.50 I'm getting 20% at peak in FL.
I'm so glad they fix the CPU hog issue. Now I can use it.

I'm getting substantial performance improvements, but your mileage may vary.tq wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:39 pm The website claims there are new Cymbals. Can anybody confirm this? If it's just three more kits and no other improvements, I think I am gonna pass this time...

For anybody whose MODO DRUM 1.5 installation cannot see previous content, there is a FAQ entry posted: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1429
If you chose MODO DRUM 1.0 in the Group Buy you do qualify for the 79.99 upgrade. Please try again if you were having issues. [Edit - actually that might not be fully working, sorry I'm waiting on some confirmation there]

Peter, thanks for explaining what is going on there. I will give it some time and check back in - fese, I really like the way MODO Drums works. I like being able to mix and match freely to make my custom kit sound. So for me if I could get the upgrade and Jam Points and all that jazz, that would be a different story versus $199.99.

Just tried to update to the latest... now when I launch it, I get:
"Factory sound content pak file is missing, please reinstall MODO DRUM"
I reinstalled... and I still get the error. It can't find the file(s). It also doesn't see any of the other pak files... so everything is missing.
Anyone else have this problem? All the files are there, exactly where they've always been. Even the update installed them (and the new stuff) to the correct location. The "Sound Content Folder" location (under GENERAL settings) is set to the correct location.
No idea what else to try...

UPDATE: figured it out... will explain solution in new post, on next page.

Does this help?becseigy wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 4:07 pm HI
I have MODO DRUM SE since 09/21.
I saw an update added to the IK Product Manager. I updated.
Now all my KITs are gone (2 were - Studio, Jazzy.) Now there is none, no sound at all.
Even though I download Sounds again, I install it, the software doesn't see them.
How can I use the software again?
