I agree about UVI's quality. Thorus is the only one I have (they don't make many FX) but it is sublime - my favourite chorus modulator.fairlyclose wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:33 amUVI stuff is always quality, and it is a great plate reverb so I would definitely think about it for that price. Not seen it cheaper. Alternatively I am selling mine for more than it is on special so if you want to spend more then the opportunity is here right now. My reason for selling is I have about 6 other high end reverbs and I thought Plate was going to be the easiest to sell and I actually use reverb to create natural spaces so a Plate is not all that useful to me. On the other hand I am using it within a feedback loop in Reaper at the moment and it is f**king great within that context so I might keep itMogwaiBoy wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:50 am How is UVI Plate? It's on sale, but not no-brainer territory.
Which is your fav plate reverb in 2023?

most likely get Thorus next sale or secondhand and that will give me all their FX. Last sale item I got was the Rotary which is not at all a one trick pony. Beautiful sound.MogwaiBoy wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 9:47 amI agree about UVI's quality. I like long plate reverbs that don't sound quite like an actual physical plate reverb, so stuff like Anwida Spatio Plate is awesome for me.
For more realistic , shorter stuff, Waves abbey Roads plates is extremely good.

Uh, holy crap...I found this thread via google as I'm considering pickup up a plate plugin. Seeing so many R4 references made me think "why not, I'll check and see if Izotope ever got off their asses and updated it for Monterey." I love R4 and used it a ton (along with Phoenixverb) but when I updated to Monterey it didn't work, and Izotope seemed like they were going to let it just linger in that state...which is pretty bad considering they were continuing to sell it. I wasn't super upset considering I paid 30 bucks for both combined, which is pretty absurd considering how good they are.
Well, now I see that they did update it for Monterey, though perhaps not for apple silicon (which is ok for me as I have an intel mac).
Glad I found this thread as I had written off R4. I bought Tai Chi lite as a replacement a while back, it's pretty excellent as well.

I like these also. Even their studio spaces can be great for adding bit of air and context to something without having it swim in reverb. Which I know is really popular these days, but not everything needs to be swimming. It gets. bit overused in my opinion.decano wrote: Wed Feb 23, 2022 7:05 pm Sunset Studio and Fame Studio plates form IK are stunning.
Specially Fame Studio Plate... I owned lots of plates and this sound awesome.

Reviving July's thread, I would also vote for Lustrous Plates it can do most of the stuff dispersion being your guide, help you get to any place. It blends well, and I use it mostly as a send.
VREV140 is a real weapon, I absolutely love it, it can be huge or used for sound design, has everything I expect from a plate reverb, it can fatten up sources, with a few parameters which bring a lot of variety, and can be the only plate someone needs.
UAD is also great and great for mixing, but I know UAD is not everyones cup of tea.
