Tracking Apple Silicon Native Hosts, Plugins, Effects

Is "Sigma EX" the same as "Sigma" or an internal product only for existing customers? I don't see a "Sigma EX" on the site, and the demo download for Sigma is not native.

I don't know what their plans are for this, but it is available for registered Sigma users. In the download there are separate installers for the Mac Intel and M1 versions.

Here the standalone is running with Activity Monitor showing it running as Apple architecture.

Do you have to set the Activity Monitor up specifically to view plugins?
It doesn't seem to show any when i try. The only audio related thing i could find was my DAW running i think

The only “Intel“ kind shown on my system is CarbonComponentScannerXPC.
Though it seems to be active all the time, even right after a fresh cold start

He's not showing a plugin. He's showing a standalone app.

No, Activity Monitor will not show plugins separately. That's why I ran the Sigma EX standalone application to easily show that it is running natively.

If the plugin does not have a standalone application you can start Activity Monitor and sort it by Kind so that you see Intel at the top. Start your plugin host application and verify that no new Intel processes have been started. Load the plugin you want to verify. If it loads and you can open its UI and no new Intel processes have been started the plugin is running natively. If the plugin is running but you have a new Intel process then your host is bridging the Intel version of the plugin.

Much easier to drag the plugin bundle to Electric Light ArchiChect, which sits in my Dock. It shows whether the plugin is silicon-ready or not. Haven't had any false positives or negatives with it yet, but YMMV.

thanks, i somehow was suspecting this, but you never know. Especially when being a noob on my part

Yup, did that, nothing new “Intel“ showed up, just for the peace of mind

I just discovered that iZotope RX 9 VST2 plugins are not native. The Steinberg death sentence for VST2 is spreading.

The official release is not native. You need to go to the forums for native versions of Nerve and Cthulhu.

It's not a matter of whether it is beta. It's a matter of whether you need to go to the forums to get the native version. For Serum you don't. For Nerve, Cthulhu, and LFOTool you do. If you don't own a product, you will have no access to its forum.

Of course the old ones, namely MFM2, Uhbik and Filterrscape aren't native yet (other than their betas, but i'm not sure about that regarding Filterscape as of yet)
But Twangström, Colour Copy, Presswerk, Satin, Protoverb (and Zebrify) certainly are
