I think at this point in history we all need to accept that software breaks. That's it. Just that. You win some you lose some. Hopefully they can help you. I've had my share of software products that just dont work and have had to abandon them. It seems like the thing to do to blame the developers. However, there are so many vairables that our of their control, added to human error, its surprising software works as well as it does.

It might be helpful to take a zen approach as a software user. :borg:

thx a lot plexuss!
yeah i get your point, with some you got more stress than with others :/ with all these managers man this sucks, i mostly have probs with these plugins well sorted most out now. only IKM and WAVES left atm and one steinberg but steinberg support sucks, this is can surely tell! ikm will get back :). hope they can sort it out.

At the same time it is really frustrating when things don't work, especially things we pay for. I just wanted to share my approach which has been to ease off on the frustration and other intense negative reactions to these kinds of problem. I've lowered my expectations of software considerably and accepted the risks that some $'s will be lost. In a sense, this is all leading edge stuff. Audio software is innovative in that devs are often working with the latest and greatest. That also opens up risks! The way I look at it now is that there will be some failure, as a consumer, user and customer, with software. When it happens I just chalk it up to new learnings. And, adjust my puchase decisions for the future.

Of course this doesn't help with your immediate issue. However you seemed to be posting more about your specific mindset wrt IKM. On my macPOS system TRacks5 has been working fine. But I have a lot of other commerical software horror stories I could go into. Good luck!

Happened to me again and again.
Says the plugins are authorized -sometimes- in the manager thing (don’t remember the stupid software name), and the plugins are recognized as demo in Cubase. Again and again.
I don’t use them anymore.
I won’t buy anything from them again, every plugin is unusable.

EDIT : if I remember correctly I had found a trick. If you activate the plugins, let the managing software open and then use them in your DAW, they work. But next time you boot your computer, you have to do it again (no, administrator rights didn’t help). :D

in my case the virusscanner makes a lot of problems with installing not only IKM. a lot of installers fail or install is not complete without errors, but plugins fail in several ways.

I wish some of these companies actually had suites that could smart-update themselves, for example... let's say you upgrade to the new iZotope Ozone, and there's an option to "convert plugin instances from previous Ozone" - and it tries it's best to transfer over the plugin settings and instances from the old suite to the new suite - so you don't have to have the old suite installed forever. This should be possible since a lot of the 'modules' are the pretty much the same, ie: EQ, compressor, transient shaper, imager etc

T-Racks could almost do a similar thing, providing the module hasn't disappeared.

i gave up on ik, after buying sample thank 4 ultimate or whatever, getting to the samples is so tedious, 10€ download license if you want to download again after some months, 3 different installers, 3 different stores, confusion of there 271 different collection on each product line etc. pp. maybe modo bass, i would get that but else im out :D.

good to know im not alone ahahahaha, well i still like tracks, i didnt compare the plugins a:B with my fabfilter ones but i need to take time and see if i can get the same results and load all my projects where i used IKM and then trash em. no time and nerves for them anymore.

I would...

- Uninstall all T-Racks
- Install the old T-Racks
- Open the song/project
- Take screenshots or settings notes of each T-Racks plugin instance on every channel
- Uninstall old T-Racks
- Install new T-Racks
- Manually transfer all the settings over from the screenshots/notes
- Save and done

This would be slow and tedious, but you'll get your song back and it might be better futureproofed.

You could try to do your authorization with stand alone app first before opening your DAW.

A lot of VSTi's require a login about once a month to keep working properly.

if you have fab filter you're probably set, if you want more flavours in a strip format, imho izotope neutron/ozone channel strips are highly useful and easily resellable or check out PSP Infinistrip. For sound design I actually recommend the newer NI effects, they have immense sweet spots and are highly usable (bite, dirt, raum) -- I use them all the time.

Check to see if your antivirus has got some sort of a document ransomware protection. Quite a lot of plugin installers write presets into the the user 'Documents' folder and when I had BitDefender that entire folder was readonly to external .exes to stop things becoming encrypted. Obviously that meant that any installer failed when it then tried to write presets to my documents folder
