Motu M4 outputs and multiple monitors (or perhaps Audient ID14 MkII)

I'm still not getting forum notifications, had no idea there'd been replies. I have recently tested a SSL 2 and have found it to be fine for general use. I read a lot of reviews of the Audient ID14 MK2 and I noticed that the rate of hardware failures combined with poor customer support was a bit higher than some other brands. It left me with the impression that if the units work well then it's a very good product, but there's more of a risk attached. And also that since there seems to be overwhelmingly glowing reviews of it on YouTube, often labelling it 'best in price range', I'm guessing Audient are doing deals with YouTube channels and that those reviews might be somewhat biased. Yes, also the midi input will be useful to me in the future.

You can permanently set 3 and 4 line out on MOTU m4 and its easy in Mac.

Funny, I was quite literally in the same boat as you in having to decide between the m4 and the iD14. Ended up going with the Audient and I have not looked back since. Here's why ~
The thing is a beauty and it sounds even better. The ability to set the "iD button" to ScrollControl, Mono, Mono + Polarity, Dim, or Talkback was a no brainer for me and was a breeze setting up. Their ID software is a gem and a quite simple to get the hang of. It's basically a mixer but under the hood you can easily use it to customize your interface to your liking. As for the hardware itself, the inputs and outputs sound great, the buttons are comfortably tactile and sturdy, the knobs/switches feel great to adjust, it pairs well with my M1 spacegray Mac and to just put it in a nutshell - I can't keep my hands off of it. When casually listening to music or watching videos I find myself tweaking the smallest db change just so that I can turn the knob. It's that good.
Sure, the Motu has that nice little 1 inch metering display, but I assure you, if that is what is tipping the scales for you - you should really reconsider. I only say this because that was the last stringing me from diving in to Audient and their interface universe, but I'm sure glad I overcame * insert Don't Stop Believin' by Journey *. You can find a good metering plugin anywhere else.
Pay the few extra dollars, you will not regret it.

I use an M2 for a small setup with a MacBook Pro M1 Max. The metering is quite nice. Although this unit has a very limited feature set, the sound of the thing is excellent. But the thing that absolutely floors me about this little box is that there is zero RFI/EMI hum or buzz produced from any of my single pole guitar pickups. It was quite a surprise.

I have a similar wonder as Chagzuki. I've seen many good Youtube reviews for Audient interfaces and think that maybe they are somehow sponsored, or biased by receiving a free interface. But still I think I would give Audient id14 mkII a chance
