Hi all
is there an Effect VST PLugin where i can get this FMish Sound like some M4L Devices in Ableton ?
Thank you in advance

Or an FM Synth where i can route audio through ?

is supposed to mean - exact definition/examples would be helpful maybe? -
but for example in BYOME you can get quite FM´y sounds with "Frequency Shifter" and a high modulation rate or with RING modulator...

at least maybe worth a try...

FM8 by Native Instruments comes as VSTi with side chain input and as VST FX.

The Knifonium plugin allows for an external signal side chain as a modulation source for a lot of different purposes. One of my favorite features of that synth (of course, I like its oscillators and the tubey overdriven harmonics from it too, wouldn't be much point to having such a neat feature if the synth itself sucked but that is not a problem here!)

You can imitate phase modulation with a saw-to-sine shaper. Some wavefolders have a transfer function that is pretty close.

Put a basic saw into it with the right gain, get a sine out -- so the saw is basically the phase of the sine. But if you mix another wave before the shaper, and you're basically doing phase modulation. (You don't strictly have to use a saw, but then it's not really phase modulation if you don't.)

This is how FM worked in the DX7 I believe, and it's how Happy Nerding FM Aid works in Eurorack, and I've made similar patches with the ER-301 Sound Computer and with Bitwig Grid.

Airwindows Vibrato is what you want. It sounds great, can make chorus/phaser sounds but also has FM depth and rate sliders. Sounds great and can make nice FM tones.

I'd use a delay line in a modular rig like reaktor and then modulate it with some audio. There are some fun tricks that can he done by modulating a delay line with the dry signal as well. You can go lots of ways and get some fun noises with variations on this technique.
If I want to FM an osc by audio i usually use FM8 or zebrify.

Yea! I have my eye on that one as well. I didn’t but as I’m not sure if Studio One 5 allows for the correct routing? Would love to know if possible.

Faded Instruments makes pretty neat things by the way.
