I have MODO DRUM SE since 09/21.
I saw an update added to the IK Product Manager. I updated.
Now all my KITs are gone (2 were - Studio, Jazzy.) Now there is none, no sound at all.
Even though I download Sounds again, I install it, the software doesn't see them.

How can I use the software again?
Does this help?

Yes, I contacted IK multimedia support yesterday then this post came out.

Only full reinstall helped. But One more note:
The additional sound files (pak files) should not be installed in the same folder as the program because it will not be seen by the program. (this was not a problem before 1.5).

If you are installing the program in a location other than the default location (C\...etc), be sure to copy (install) the additional sound (pak) files (only those) to the location specified in the help file first and show them in the program. Then restart the DAW and then copy them to another location if you don't want them on drive C: and show the new location to the program.

Thanks for that additional info becseigy.

I didn't have to totally reinstall the entire app and files (unless you count the quick re-install option in the product manager...), but I did have to swap around a few files to get everything running again.

I'm on PC, BTW... not sure if this is even an issue on a Mac. Anyway...

I have everything installed on other drives (not default C).

I created a separate folder and put (almost) all the sound content pak files into it. The new folder is located outside of the main MODO DRUM folder.

At first I had ALL of the pak folders in it, which kept MODO DRUM from launching at all. So, I had to experiment... adding just the few pak files I thought it might need to actually launch.

Ends up it had to have the following pak files, along side the main MODO DRUM.exe, in the main MODO DRUM folder (to make it finally work):

-ModoDrum.pak
-ModoDrumConfig.pak
-ModoDrumFactoryContent.pak

Once those were in there, it launched fine and it saw everything else I owned as well (in the new separate folder). I had already changed the location of the sounds folder, once I got a couple errors... telling me what else was missing, as I was experimenting.

So, that's what worked for me. Hope this helps anyone else having similar issues. 8)

I was prompted to find the sounds on my M1 Mac as well. Done.

Yes, those are the core pak files must be in the installed (main app) folder.

The additional pak files (Studio - filename: MODO DRUM Common Elements.pak; Jazzy - MODO DRUM Jazzy.pak etc.) must be in another directory (outside of the app directory)

@Peter - IK Multimedia
Please integrate a filter option to hide not purchased kits and elements. Sales showrooms in user interfaces are disgusting disturbing.

Looks like this is yet another Peter-IK hit and run casualty. No follow up on anyone's questions or the Upgrade problems that he said were fixed and then retracted.

Thhe MODO DRUM 1.5 upgrade issue has NOT been resolved for most users. So if you got MODO DRUM in the Group Buy, you still have to buy MODO DRUM 1.5 for $300.

Anyone know the Upgrade is available for people who got MODO DRUM 1.0 through a license transfer?

Why does my Product Manager tell me I have an update for my BOUGHT and PAID for MODO Drum product, and then after installing it, apparently I need to pay for using the extra crap that's installed?

This should be a different product, different installer. And not in the list for my updates.

There was NO warning of this, and the "Installation Notes" said there were 3 new kits "added".

And, they are NOT greyed out in mine. Just mixed in with the ones that I am "allowed" to use.

What a crock of spit this is.

Shawn, think of it like AmpliTube. Whatever incarnation(s) of AmpliTube you own can be updated when there is a new version available. Typically these updates include new gear that is not free. So you can update your version number, but you don't get the new gear without buying it. Same here.

Yeah Jamcat, I know what you are saying, but I had NO warning they were adding "pay per view" to my current "viewing" package. "Release Notes" said "3 new kits" and "General reliability improvements". Nothing about them having to be bought.

Either have it work as ST4 does where you can add what you want - when you want/buy it. Or hide what you do not own, OR just make it a new product already. And don't screw up what people already bought and paid for - with an invisible shop smashed onto the interface.

And of course, IK gave no way to "hide" the "unusable" ones, they are right out in front - inconspicuously (besides the tiny locks) blended amongst the rest of the "usable" kits.

This is just a very bad way to do business. Especially to those who are pretty loyal customers.

Can you imagine if Toontrack shoved every kit that you had not yet purchased into the EZdrummer 2 or Superior Drummer 3 interfaces?

I can't (shouldn't have to) deal with 3 in my way.

They did the same with Syntronik 2, gave people something like 1 preset per new synth and then it was "upgrade to Syntronik 2 Max" to get them. Bit tedious.

Yeah, "first one's on me" is also how drug dealers operate.

Not a hit and run, I was under the impression all upgrade concerns were fixed and if they were not those folks were in contact with IK Support. All should be fixed now, and if there are technical issues etc those would need to be handled by our team directly and I'm sure they will take care of anything that isn't covered in the FAQs that have been posted about MODO DRUM 1.5 (missing content, do you need to download from the Sounds tab, etc) too.

Thanks Peter. But we still need an answer on when MODO DRUM CS kits are actually going to be available in the Custom Shop.

...?

So I went ahead and purchased the MODO DRUM 1.5 upgrade.

I really like the “Brit Custom” kit. Great Tom Tom tone. Definitely the best of the 3 new kits.

The new 1.5 cymbal sets are also really good. I they’re a definite improvement over the 1.0 sets. I particularly like IKX set. All the kits and especially the cymbals sound a lot better than IK’s demo tracks would have you believe. Those demo songs are truly horrible and sound like the drums were programmed by monkeys.

I don’t really care for the new “Metal” kit at all, though. I don’t understand why they did another Tama StarClassic Bubinga kit when the “Bubinga” kit from 1.0 is already modeled on the Tama Star or StarClassic Bubinga.

If you look closely at the banner image of both kits on their product pages, you’ll see both say “Maple StarClassic” on the kick drum head.

Also, the mystery of what the “Extreme” kit is has finally been solved. It’s a Sonor SQ² kit, which is one of the only beech wood kits in existence (and the only one not made by Yamaha). It also happens to be the kit Nicko McBrain used around the time MODO DRUM was released. So beech wood + “the Iron Maiden style” can only mean Sonor SQ²

It's not like they've never had feedback on this for other products, either.
