Wider max is around 33% for me, not that it is used much here either, also depends of the sound and mix itself too..

I never tested the Steroizer but my argument I wrote on the videos comments stays the same:

The Ozone Imager 2 does a (for me) perfect job in all situations I tested...
Why shall I spend €114,- for a plugin which might be similar perfect if I got this wished result already for free??

i got an upgrade price which includes stereoplacer too for around 90 bucks, only that

Melda StereoSpread is nice and totally mono compatible. It even makes wide entirely mono signal.

I always use the iZotope Imager on my tracks. I like that it lets you stereoize per (user definable) band, so I monoize the bass and widen the track in higher registers. According to Imager, I stay out of phasing issues, and I can't hear them either, so I and the machine are in agreement.

Every single stereo widener tool I've tried has consistently and deeply messed up the music, even when used very conservatively. Unless you want to purposefully create some semi-weird sounding effect, I'd stay away from those. I have the Nugen bundle and I use it actually to tighten up things in mono. For widening purposes, a slight pinch of eq on the side info is more than enough most of the time. That's my personal experience.

How about Nugen Audio Stereoplacer... Have you tried it? I think it's really worth a look / demo! You might find it offers the user a bit more control/flexibility to pan a sound source L/R by frequency.

yeah this was normally my go for the bundle, i got the mono plugin which i use all the time, but the bundle is around 90 bucks, for stereoizer and stereoplacer, sadly stereoizer seems really phasey/fuzzy compared to Imager :/ i only tested a detuned supersaw but stereoizer really got phasey, i didnt expected this.... so 90 bucks for stereoplacer is too much for me.

Oh OK - I tend to start with applying Stereoizer sparingly on a track - factoring in what type of instrument / sound it is and how 'mono-compatible' the audio is. If there is already some / a lot of signal in the sides then I might consider using something like Voxengo MSED or Raising Jake's SideMinder (as mentioned above ) before and/or after Stereoizer in the FX chain.

Alternatively you could explore using Stereoizer as a send FX and try to manage any undesirable phasing issues with an EQ, or other tool...? Just a thought.

I think based on how Nugen's Stereoplacer has been designed to work it provides a *more* efficient / flexible method of controlling and/or manipulating the stereo field - by frequency. The analyzer tool is usually quite helpful in this regard.

BTW, did you miss out on the Nugen Audio's user survey $100 discount voucher offer from some weeks ago?

right... i picked up stereoplacer for $29 a while back. did their survey and got a voucher for $100. stereoplacer is $129 reg price

I second that.

I use a lot of stereo expanders in my mix, BUT only mono-compatible ones. Simply try them yourself : compare stereo with mono result and see if they're OK. There are even freeware plugins that really rock. Combine a lot of different plugins so you get a very complex spacialization, and you'll never need any "real" stereo expander on your main channel that kills the mono signal.

Mono compatibility is the key. You can over-abuse stereo expansion if the plugins change nothing when it's back to mono. Simply use them on specific tracks and your mix can be as widely complex as you want it.
