An article from Sonicstate about found sound and field recording. Looking at gear to use, things to record and some techniques on making music with them:

Have you done any such recording?
Chris

for about 40 years

actually even longer ago - probably more like 46 years ago. I'm 64 and started playing with tape recordings just after school. The drummer in our band made little synths and circuit bent things way back then as wellvurt wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 8:31 pmi almost says "you is old!"

so true - those happy accidents. That's how My friends and I started massed detuned guitars (on purpose) back in the 70s. Played things by accident and liked the result. Our little mantra was "make a mistake, make it again and call it a technique"vurt wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 8:36 pm i was 8 or 9, had no idea it was already a thing
was doing the "recording the top 40 bits i liked off the radio" but had left the tape recorder in hi speed mode without realising, till playback
my mind exploded!!! what else can i do with this?
spent a couple of years, using cassette tapes, getting sounds, then cutting and rebuilding cassette tape
till my uncle found me at it one day, and informed me of 2 inch tape and reel to reel and that there was a history of this!!!!
awesome! circuit bending i didn't discover till i came to kvr, whyterabbyt introduced me to that worldfairlyclose wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 8:57 pmactually even longer ago - probably more like 46 years ago. He ended up becoming a highly skilled lab technician - I'd go into his work and there'd be circuit boards lying on benches with various probes plugged into them measuring whatever it was the project needed. All stuff he'd made. Was just talking with him this morning (my oldest friend) on how European Honey Bees f**k up the Australian ecosystemvurt wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 8:59 pmawesome! circuit bending i didn't discover till i came to kvr, whyterabbyt introduced me to that worldfairlyclose wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 8:57 pmactually even longer ago - probably more like 46 years ago.
