Same here. I´m urgently looking for "character" and the MF nailed it. Decided against Prophet rev2. Decided against a Waldorf. Lastly decided against all the others for now and enjoy this little one very much.

I dunno. If I was after something like this, I'd just go with software. After all, that's all it is - software running in it's own plastic box. I've been tempted by the form factor but, ultimately, I can't see the point. NI's TRK-01 Bass, for example, is in a similar vein and it's free.

That's a largely meaningless fact. There are good and bad filters on both sides and, from what I've heard, there is nothing particularly special about MicroFreak's filter. I'd suggest, for example, that the digital filter in Modal's Cobalt sounds better than the analogue filter in MicroFreak.

Anyone here have a Dreadbox Nymphes? I found a decent deal and the Typhon got me excited about Nymhpes, but I'm feeling a little underwhelmed by the demos now.

Its not a meaningless fact , largely or otherwise, when you were the one that said:BONES wrote: Wed Mar 02, 2022 6:07 am That's a largely meaningless fact. That ISNT all it is. Whether you like the way it sounds is irrelevant. MicroFreak is a hybrid. Cobalt 8 sounds better all around IMHO but thats not really related to anything other than it matches your statement that its just software running in its own (metal) box"After all, that's all it is - software running in it's own plastic box. Whether I like the way it sounds is the ONLY thing that's relevant. Any other considerations introduce bias that lead to poor decisions.

Have to add the Prologue here - I love the thing to death because it is two synths in one, a 16-voice analogue, and a digital one I ended up buying a bunch of DSPs for from Sinevibes including 'corrosion' a multi-algorithm distortion that turns the thing into a monster. The digital synth is also the NTS-1 which you can still buy.
Apparently the prologue has been discontinued by Korg.

I guess the only synth I can think of that blew me away was the Studio Electronics ATC-1. (Since replaced by the “X,” a four filter version) I still love it, but what blew me away was that I bought it feeling kind of skeptical that analog really offered something that I was missing.

They also have the ARP 2600FS on their website which was apparently a limited-run product that sold out immediately

I can't find anything to confirm this, just the usual bullshit rumours started in Reddit. StoreDJ here in Aus has plenty of Prologue 16s but only a couple of Prologue 8s.Constructed Identity wrote: Thu Mar 03, 2022 3:59 amYes, it was just discontinued in Feb. along with the King Korg and another synth I can't remember

It's delisted from https://www.thomann.de and https://www.musicstore.de which is strange. Not just listed as out of stock, but completely removed.
There were some rumors that the power supply wasn't EU compliant, but in that case wouldn't they just redesign the PSU? The EU seems like a too big market to simply ignore.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
