Well, what does it help that they add plugins if they remove them at some point -> they did this with a1 and other plugins years ago ...

With other DAWs this hardly happens for a good reason.

Post

Because if that I never used Cubase stock plugins.
This company isn't reliable at all.

"Due to technical reasons the following plug-ins and technologies have been removed from the product scope
VST instruments: Mystic, Prologue, Specter, LoopMash are no longer included in the factory content of Cubase."

I don't give a shit about Mystic or Specter - both crap IMO, but Loopmash? :o :-o :bang:

One of the main reason that I went for Cubase rather than others a couple of years back. It's gold.
Definitely not upgrading then - I'll happily stay on 10.5 for several years. Bastards.
Oh that's really a shame. They should at least include their respective current versions hidden for old projects if they want to discontinue these. It doesn't give any warm fuzzies to use any of the built in tools if they are going to remove them over time.

You sound as if it was the first time they did that...

From the Cubase Pro 12 Forum:
As I replied in another thread, if on Windows, you can copy the SynthEngine.vst3 from your Cubase 11 installation and insert it into the Steinberg/Cubase/VST3 folder. You will need the Cubase 11 licence probably, to be able to run them. This technique does not work with Loopmash though.
I got Prologue, Mystic and Spectrum to work again.

I have C12 working smoothly on my M1 mac but cannot use Halion 6 and libraries, Padshop 2 libraries, Backbone etc without the dongle…
One step at a time, I guess.
I have Absolute, and will still have to use the dongle for that even if I update to C12.
I don't think I'm going to update Absolute, because I only use Halion.

I bought Halion as part of Absolute,
but I don't know if I'll be able to update Halion to 7 when it comes out because of that.
If I have to buy Halion again outright to have it not be part of Absolute, I'll feel pretty ripped off.

Anyone with Cubase Elements 12 can confirm if logical presets are still available?

I did look for the actual files in the Steinberg folders in documents, in program files, and in appdata, but I didn't find them.

I was quite surprised that CPU usage really seems to have improved in C12. I compared two projects, which where around 27 and 42% in C11, but only around 16 and 30% in C12. Same asio guard settings. Measured in Process Explorer.
That seems a bit too good to be true, so I wonder if I overlooked some settings that have changed between versions…

This is very encouraging to know. Are you using the new license management?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Sad. :( . I'm not bothered about any of the Cubase synths - very rarely used them ever, but Loopmash is pretty well indispensible to me. I'll have to live with it - I stayed on SX2 for maybe 10 years, so I can happily stay on 10.5 for several more years, after all it does what I bought it for and I never buy stuff for what it might do in the future. And if I can find a 3rd party VSTi that does something similar then I could consider upgrading. Sadly I haven't seen anything that's even close (one possibility but it's iLok, so will never buy that)

sorry guys, I didn't go thru all 19 pages.
I activate 11 Pro last Nov and will Steniberg send a new 12 pro key to their customers like me (under grace period)?

And why I didn't find a full install for 12 pro in Sten download assistant?

Post

oki doki, i want around in circles for a while,
what i did in the end was upgrade/refresh my elicenser "Cubase 11" to "Cubase 11 grace period eligible", that got the ball rolling, i think then it shows up in the activation manager and it was just follow the road from there.

Post

One thing though, just to let you guys know. the elicense control centre just ate my Cubase 11 license. It's gone.

[EDIT] ok i just did a recovery (took a while the internet here now is so bad) and my elicenser license is now entitled "Cubase 11 not upgradeable"
so there you go

can keep the dongle to open older versions, for as long as the thing works.
and Cubase 12 looks great.
let's dig in, shall we?

That whole installation was a total cluster f**k. Literally nothing that was suggested, anywhere at all, worked at all. From the install and grace period upgrade website to this very thread here.

And the strangest part is that Cubase 12 is somehow, miraculously installed and registered on my computer.

The official Steinberg instructions for claiming the grace period license miss a step or two, they're f**king hopeless.
