I hadn't really thought about this, and I've been using Sennheiser HD600s with the Air. The high end is significantly lacking, which has led to me getting confused around mixing decisions in that area.cel4145 wrote: Fri Mar 04, 2022 4:19 am In case this helps, in 2021, Apple updated the Pros to have a better much better built-in headphone amplifier

So now the Pros work well with 95% of headphones.

I recomend the M1 Pro with the largest screen, 14 or 15 I don't remember. I noticed the difference at the store and it was quite significant.

I have a M1 Pro 14 for a two months now, totally recommend it. Coolers in Pro models are very helpful during long production sessions. I suppose there can be some throttling on Air. 14 screen maybe is no difference with old 13 on paper, but there are really more space for Ableton. Although, headphone amp is no so great as I expected, for Sennheiser HD 650 additional amp still needed.

So an M2 13" Pro didn't materialise, contrary to the expectations of most commentators. I wonder when the larger Pro lineup will move to M2.
