There are joke threads, threads about how to make music, threads about nearly everything , but What I want to know is “why do you use electronic musical equipment?”
Is it your job ? Are you a salaried sound engineer ? Or professional musician ? Is it a hobby , you do it for fun and nothing more ? or are you addicted to buying new shiny plugins and not really motivated 'musically' ?
I will also make this into a poll -
Personally - I was a professional jazz musician (alto / soprano saxophone) had my own jazz band - we toured a little in the 1990s but mainly gigged in London UK - then I jacked it all in to get a regular pay check and got into electronic music as a hobby in around 1998 — been a hobby/passion ever since - I must have made thousands of songs and sound effects and patches , but never sold any of it , never tried to -
Interested to hear anyone else’s reasons why they use electronic music technology —>

“why do you use electronic musical equipment?” is about the driest, blandest way of describing it.
"Hobby" is a pretty inadequate word too, really.
I make music because it is the most fascinating, beautiful, satisfying thing I can do. It's one of the very few things in my life that seems like it's actually worth doing.

Poll should allow people to choose more than one option. I would bet that many (most?) of us fit into more than one category, particularly when you include the last ("other") option.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

all seriousness aside, I think 'hobby' is as honorable as any intent, as to the poll.
none of the above. It's what gets me up in the morning.
at times it's been a living, but that entails being among people as a matter of course.
I'm not addicted to spending money. I have seriously no excuse not to make whatever I think to make but I'll go years spending zero.

also, during game, a lot of opponents are so slow that i can do stuff in reaper.
plus, it's kind of fun too.
