Weirdly enough ...

s.r.o. is indeed the Czech "limited company". So, Russian developers, located in Belize under a Czech corporate form? Wheeeeee. :hihi:

I received this today at 8:43am, maybe because I purchased Spire pretty recently. I guess if you want proof I can post a screenshot of the email if it matters.
I definitely could be reading to much into it, I'm the emotional artistic type. It just seems incredibly tone deaf to me. I have never received a promotional email with an emoji flag in the header, so from coming from a Russian company as Russia is trying to "get the band back together", with it's juxtaposition next to the "Inspiration For your Next Music" it just set me off. I'm probably just projecting the stupid and cruel killings their country is doing onto them and shouldn't assume the worst of them.
don't confuse the people of russia with the government of russia...

but, back on topic. haven't used spire in some time, it could use an update, or a re-invent.
I completely agree! The Russian people are an amazing people who do not deserve what is coming as after effects from their political class' actions. Which is why the email seemed so either totally tone deaf or supportive, which threw me off enough to post here.

Post

Even if Reveal Sound was a Russian company they didn't have anything to do with the current situation. We need to support the people of Russia not blame them for the actions of their leader.

Anyway we've crossed into Hyde Park territory so back on Spire, I've been enjoying it a lot lately so would love to see more wavetables or the ability to load our own etc.... :tu:

Kaspersky are pretty much outside Russia, too, by now. I think in Switzerland.

I agree placing collective guilt on people is unacceptable. I am in no way advocating collective guilt. I was posting regarding a specific unsolicited marketing email that I received that seemed to me completely tone deaf at the very least. I will stop posting on this thread.

On a separate note on the synth itself, I love the pads that Spire creates.

OK, my last, last post :) Doing a WHOIS on their domain shows they are using a Russian privacy proxy , a rare choice for a Czech company.

i've been using spire since 2012, when it first showed up (that's a billion years in tech years). last upgrade was pretty good; think i'm just bored with it (my problem, not the plugin's). still, would like to see it progress...

Big fan of Spire. Really fantastic pads. Atmospheric and ethereal. Check out Bellatrix Audio and Howard Smith.

Reveal sends emails every week or two listing the latest sound libraries. The last few emails have had a 🔴, ❤️ and 🥁 in the subject.

Regardless of what it said, I never get any newsletters from Spire and i'm fully signed up....

They don't go to spam, anyone else get these issues ?

They aren't Czech, they're Russian.

For whatever reason that is important. I really think we should end this pogrom thing.

...Are you referring to the "special military operation" or to the line of inquiry here in the forums?

(If it's the latter, I don't think calling it "pogrom" is at all appropriate.)

I've only been using Spire for a short time and I'm in no way bored with it yet but as always if some is good it's natural to want more.

Any expansion of Spire would be welcome here as would any expansion of any synth I own.

The ability to import our own wavetables would be top of my personal wishlist. :tu:

Agreed. Importing wavetables is the one thing I wish Spire had. I was a little surprised when I originally demoed it and realized it did not have this feature. I was afraid everything would have a similar sound and it would be limited. But after playing around with the demo and finding some free libraries, I was surprised at the variety produced. It is now one of my favorite synths.

Yep.

TBH, what was a bit off-putting for me in the last time were the several bugs I encountered with each update. That, and that the synth always seemed pretty unfinished and unpolished to me.

I really like the sound, and that it's so quick to dial in. But, at some point, I think it's time for a successor, which is better laid out, more finished, and has more features (like said wavetable import, for example). Won't hold my breath to see when it will happen though. I think it will be quite a while until it happens.

Post

Looks like the last update was October of 2021. Was there any talk of plans for the future?

I haven't really noticed any major bugs but Spire can be just a bit wonky in FL Studio. Once in a while it will stop producing audio for a short time.

I haven't messed with FL's "Fixed Size Buffer" options so that may have something to do with it.

To anyone running Spire in FL Studio do you use Fixed Size buffers On or?
