iLok has updated and the version number is 5.5.0 GM. Updated on my M1 Mac Mini but not my Intel MacBook so it looks like the update is only coming through if you already had the Beta installed currently. Bring on the iLok plugin updates!!!

still beta. doesn't show up when 'check for updates' in the app on my macbook pro M1 max.

i think the lowercase b in that string of numbers means beta.

Post

lowercase b means "build" probably, since 5.4.1 also starts with b.

If you download the latest from iLok's website it still is 5.4.1 so we are probably still in beta :?

iLok should have been ditched a year ago.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Be sure to grab the beta 5 Liquidsonics & Reverb Foundry releases to be compatible with iLok 5.5.0GM

The current release version 5.4.1. also has GM after the name. There is also a message when you load the app saying that iLok Cloud maintenance will take place on 12th March. As this is 1 week after this GM release of the Beta I am guessing this is when they eyeing for a full release.

You have an example for such a move?
Here's one:

In this case, he just ignored the harassment and carried on. There have been rumors, though, that other developers have gotten the same kind of messages and yielded to Steinberg's pressure. Native Instruments was likely among them. While porting Kontakt to ARM, they spent a lot of time and effort on the native VST2 version, only to remove it from the 6.7 release at the last minute. Afterwards, they told their confused beta testers that native VST2 support was being withdrawn for some unspecified reason.

I spent some time looking for more links, including instances of Steinberg employees explicitly stating their position on this. I was certain I'd read such posts before, but couldn't find much. What I saw may have been in threads that were deleted from the Steinberg forums. If I do end up finding it, I'll come back and post more links.

For whatever it's worth, I don't think these vague threats from Steinberg would actually stand up in court. Unfortunately, big companies with a lot of lawyers tend to be really skittish about this kind of thing, so I expect Arturia to fold pretty easily, especially given their reliance on VST3.
I hate signatures too.

They just got a huge customer with Vienna Ensemble Library who previously used eLicenser. ilok is not my least favorite CP though, that would be online call back licenses like Roli use for Equator etc.

Presuming they ever finish the migration. It's been over a year since they announced it.
