I'd be curious to know which DAW folks who buy this are using.

Are you trying to say that TALdrum is redundant because most daws already offer similar drumplugs , ?
If so , just try it ..it's full of character and nifty features not found in your standard generic daw drum

That‘s true, most DAWs already come shipped with some nice “Batteries“.Introspective wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 4:59 pm I'd be curious to know which DAW folks who buy this are using.
I‘m on Reaper though, but i‘m already covered with M1 native drum plugs, so i‘ll have to pass on this aswell, as much as i‘d like to support one of my favorite devs

I personally would rather have a separate “analog” drum synth (not combined with samples), like a virtual Vermona's DRM-1, but I’m probably in the minority of liking simpler instruments…!zvenx wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 2:14 pmAgreed, I was trying to convince him to add this (I tried to sell it as a Tremor replacement), maybe one day he will do it.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 2:10 pmThat's what I was hoping for when I read the thread title. I have too many drum samplers already. But a TAL drum synth would've been very tempting.

If you haven't worked it out yet... When you click on the gear icon, it lets you set your root sample folder (like d:\samples\drums, or whatever - you an also download the presets from that windown too). Unnzip the "GB_TAL-Drum_Pack" folder to that location, then browse to it from inside the plugin.
The included sample pack is just a very small collection of classic drum machine samples, enough for the included trial preset kit, but I have plenty other interesting samples to play with : )

Thanks, I didn't think to click on the gear icon to download the sample content.neverbeeninariot wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 6:05 pm If you haven't worked it out yet... When you click on the gear icon, it lets you set your root sample folder

This to me is its biggest selling point, most of what I do that need a sampler, between cubase's native sampler track, groove agent, battery and maschine, I am taken care of, but this thing has a nice old school character in its sound.

Looks cool, but is the round robin only between pads, not for the samples within a pad? That would be the ideal use as it would be samples of the same hit usually. And it would good to have more than 4 layers for round robin. Using multiple pads for round robin seems a bit of a waste as you'd want them on the same note.

So this is great fun - I threw some random samples at it, including a couple of loops and modulated the crap out of everything : ) It is pretty quirky, and can do really nice lo-fi sounds. I just started playing around with the multiple mappings and round-robin, each mapping (4 per pad) has it's own amp, mod and fx section, and mod-matrix, which is bananas : ) I really like it.
First bug I noticed - sample playback preview in the browser; the volume resets to 0.0 when the GUI is closed and reopened. Not a biggie but caught me out a couple of times. Also, long sample names get truncated and you can't scroll the browser window horizontally to see the end of the name which is particularly relevant if it's tempo based sample.
I'd like to see a scratchpad sequencer in there, and an analog drum module that you could swap out for the sample based pads on a pad-for-pad would be awesome, if unlikely : ) and it would be super cool if it could detect loop tempos - that said, punching in the BPM isn't too slow, but it could be better. None are deal breakers for me though.
The white noise in the demo is a bit obnoxious... it would be nicer on the ears if the mater volume was attenuated instead, perhaps.

Four samples per pad is consistent with the current lineup of MPCs. I haven't looked at this yet but I wonder if there are plans to export kits as MPC drum programs, or import the same. It'd be nice to use it as a template for my Live II...Echoes in the Attic wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 8:27 pm Looks cool, but is the round robin only between pads, not for the samples within a pad? I use Reaper and and this looks like it's right up my alley. I've actually been using TAL-Sampler for drums a lot but this looks like it will make my life a lot easier.Introspective wrote: Mon Mar 07, 2022 4:59 pm I'd be curious to know which DAW folks who buy this are using.
If I were using Live this would be completely redundant for me seeing as how the drum rack is already pretty much perfect. But alas we're stuck with "ReaSamplOmatic5000" which is kinda almost cool but really nowhere near adequate. There's not a lot that makes me envious of other DAWs but the drum rack and effects/instrument racks in Live are pretty dope.
