This is true for Kontakt as wellThomasHelzle wrote: Tue Mar 08, 2022 10:02 pm But that will never happen, instead the former/potential customers all create their own engines.

Well, except most of them continue making Kontakt libraries as well (Cinesamples, Spitfire, Orchestral Tools), because A) they are already heavily invested in the platform and B) much wider market reach.

Hmm one of the criterias to buy a library is that it runs in the UVI engine.
I prefer everything Uvi over Kontakt.
I don't have such big problems with loading times, except for very realistic scripted stuff, for example the Ircam solo instruments. But this is a non issue for me as well.

I wonder how they can tolerate the lack of retina support in KontaktEvilDragon wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 9:35 am Well, except most of them continue making Kontakt libraries as well (Cinesamples, Spitfire, Orchestral Tools), because A) they are already heavily invested in the platform and B) much wider market reach.

Maybe UVI didn't thought that, or they adapted to the market.ThomasHelzle wrote: Tue Mar 08, 2022 10:02 pmWhen Falcon came out, I thought it would be the next Kontakt.
I never perceived Falcon as a sampled instrument platform, but as a synth workstation.
In my view Falcon competes with Omnisphere and HALion and similar multi-engine production synths.

I guess in the end revenue is the only thing that countsotristan wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 11:01 amI wonder how they can tolerate the lack of retina support in KontaktEvilDragon wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 9:35 am Well, except most of them continue making Kontakt libraries as well (Cinesamples, Spitfire, Orchestral Tools), because A) they are already heavily invested in the platform and B) much wider market reach.
That said, I reckon increasing the performance view size to 1000x750 at max since Kontakt 5.6 also helped.

That's one of those almost religious propositions where people who believe it cannot believe there are those who don't.

Yeah, EvilDragon seems to believe his own NI propaganda crap these days.
And Otristan talks snippishly about retina support in Kontakt where Falcon definitely isn't exactly a high-res eldorado...
Basically both missed the train a long time ago.
It's probably time I think about selling Falcon.
It didn't keep any of the promises it made (to me) when it came out.
Surround support is utter crap, sample loading is the worst I know in any sampler I use and the whole vibe of the company seems to be a complacent lack of inspiration.
YMMV of course.
For me it's just collecting dust.
As you were.
Cheers,
Tom

Aren't we all.
But my Falcon license is finally for sale in the bargains forum and I can stop being annoyed by it.

You know I actually speak from experience and discussions with other library developers, and you're pulling your statements out of your ass.ThomasHelzle wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 3:54 pm Yeah, EvilDragon seems to believe his own NI propaganda crap these days.

Yes it goes without saying. Just i meant main sampler engine, without granulars. But if talk about them (if compare with same genre stuff), i still count that one certain grain technique(setting) has the most "euphonious" form exactly in the Ircam module.
