don't know - let's ask!xoxos wrote:okay, so this "envelope" is a thing that's make out of the sum of.. what?
things that make money?
oooooooooooh yes.xoxos wrote:you have ANY CLUE as to how much good music never got sold or marketed??
what's the difference between someone hearing a sound on a NIN record and wondering how it was achieved (presumably because 'they don't know', and would like to find out, and thus end up knowing something they didn't know before...) and someone hearing, for example, the vocals on your "Planet Rock" track and wondering "what the f**k is that?!"?

for sure. but what i'm saying is f**k removing the veil layer by layer, just take it off for god's sakes!ahja wrote: xoxos.. I think you miss my point. I agree with you.
just because someone is twelve, it doesn't mean they're unable to understand the concept of bullshit.
people who want to debunk slowly do so for their own advantage.
f**k that.

in case you haven't noticed, 'planet rock' has a discretely shitty, pertinent construction ethic and no one ever tried to make a dime off it on mtv or sell it to teenagers so they can think it's cool to insulate themselves from their horrible industrial culture with electronics unless you've done something with those tracks i don't know about.clueless wrote: what's the difference between..

seriously, is it wrong to ask how something was achieved just because it's product? it's still noise.

oh! forgot to mention! someone who knows someone who IS someone reckons someone else could really go for that track. they mentioning a sizeable publishing advance to the writer - i knew you wouldn't be interested, so i took all the creditxoxos wrote:...unless you've done something with those tracks i don't know about.
what I meant to say was "Yeah! f**ked 'em and ate 'em!"

as for "right and wrong," you can paint your own picture of me if you like but what i've intended to discern is a wider scope of interest, preferably one that doesn't involve all the centralised referentialism, not a moral code.

obviously just getting the software OR hardware a well known musician uses alone won't get you anywhere. you still have to have talent and skill. but just like some have already said, it's no different from asking other users here. you're more likely to take somebody's word for it if you've actually heard what they've done with it. in fact in the music cafe here when people share songs they're ALWAYS mentioning what they used to make it.
the fact is, if you know what you're doing you can make great sounding stuff with just about anything. m3rk records is one of my favorite labels and all they use are trackers. I've even heard a few really great things come of fruityloops. but I've heard far more incredible stuff come out of things like ableton and reason, and I find them easier to work with personally, so that's what I use.
I love the things skinny puppy, NIN, plastikman, and many others have done with ableton, but that doesn't mean I use it to sound like any of them. nothing I've done sounds ANYTHING like them, but I still know from hearing what they've done with it that it's an incredible program. the same goes for vsts. I just might check out these ohm boys plugins trent's been using, but I guarantee I won't use them the same way he does, and I won't try to either.

I like to hear about things like this, just because I like the knowledge of great software being spread. There so many people wo say software and computers are for nerds and kids. There catchin on, it's great shit...bout time!

point taken - i know what you're saying (re: interest and morals). and I'm saying the same thing (as far as I'm awarexoxos wrote:as for "right and wrong," you can paint your own picture of me if you like but what i've intended to discern is a wider scope of interest, preferably one that doesn't involve all the centralised referentialism, not a moral code.

HI
I supposse my smelling sickles arse to brighten up my day (and informing my peers here) would infringe and indeed become part of that centralized referential network that you feel compromises your creative juices then; 'xoxos'?
Personally my main concern is I am not yet ready to tell Sickle that I am smelling his arse - the dilema (as you will probably have gathered) is that 'he' isn't aware of what I am up to and might go a bit 'WOBBLY' when he realises his body odour is being shoplifted?
Anyway, I am now interacting with the universal sub-conscious which is merely an extension of the un-cordinated and multi-faceted cross-referenced motorway of joy - in otherwords lets network, baby.
Flipper.
