I'm wanting to focus on a creative filter plugin and was considering these 2. Which one do you like best if you happen to have used both?
Thanks,
Greg

These are very different plugins and neither is what most people would call a "filter" plugin. Rift 2 looks like a distortion, MFM2.5 is more of a delay. Both have filtering, but that's not their primary job.
What exactly are you looking for and why?

I agree with Funky. I have both and they are different in the ways Funky mentioned. In fact, they could be used together to good effect! But, they are too different to provide any meaningful comparison.

Thinking of doing rhythmic pulses using filter modulations (and possibly distortion too) to create the main movement of my tracks. From what I've heard Rift cause do some very out of the ordinary and interesting filter transitions. There is U-he Filterscape too.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 2:42 pm These are very different plugins and neither is what most people would call a "filter" plugin. I see. Good to know. What do you do mainly with Rift? My music would be really different than his, but I'll be looking for similar results in ways to what Dash Glitch does with Rift.plexuss wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 3:21 pm I agree with Funky. For that kind of task, I'd really suggest looking at Cableguys ShaperBox or Devious Machines Infiltrator. They're made exactly for those purposes.killmaster wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 4:22 pm Thinking of doing rhythmic pulses using filter modulations (and possibly distortion too) to create the main movement of my tracks. Thanks! Maybe I misunderstood what Rift is (you can't demo it). I was thinking it was along those same lines but quite a bit deeper. What do you use Rift for in your music?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 4:25 pmFor that kind of task, I'd really suggest looking at Cableguys ShaperBox or Devious Machines Infiltrator. I never heard of Rift prior to today. But when I want rhythmic pulses via filter modulations and distortion...I use Shaperbox 2 for that. It's incredible. It does filter, pan, volume, distortion, and time modulations.

Interesting.. when I bought Rift for all of 24 hours, I too had hoped it would do what the OP hoped it would (curved sequencing etc) and was disappointed that it didn't and got back my money from them....Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 4:25 pmFor that kind of task, I'd really suggest looking at Cableguys ShaperBox or Devious Machines Infiltrator. I have Shaperbox2, like it but for whatever reason don't use it that often....I am luke warm with Devious Machines Infiltrator yet, but with a great sale could be persuaded to...
The one you didn't mention that I like the best is Tantra (2) by Dmitry (now Brainworx or plugin alliance)

Tantra is fantastic. I have too many plugins. I forgot I had that one.zvenx wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 4:40 pmInteresting.. when I bought Rift for all of 24 hours, I too had hoped it would do what the OP hoped it would (curved sequencing etc) and was disappointed that it didn't and got back my money from them....Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 4:25 pmFor that kind of task, I'd really suggest looking at Cableguys ShaperBox or Devious Machines Infiltrator. I agree and I think that's what I was thinking originally but got it mixed up. I changed the subject to Filterscape. Thanks...crickey13 wrote: Tue Mar 15, 2022 7:46 am If you're looking for a creative u-he filter plugin, you should be looking at Filterscape instead of MFM TBH...
