Soundtoys are they now overated? My thinking is...

Great plugins for getting creative in music production. GUI improvements needed but not a deal breaker for me. I use 3-5 ST plugins in every song.

In fairness they are good plugins but so is everything else these days (generally speaking).
I'd like to see something new from them they've pretty much stagnated which is a shame. Arturia on the other hand is going great.

Yeah what's up with asking people's opinions on a forum?jens wrote: Thu Jul 22, 2021 2:38 pm So when you have already made up your mind and don't care whether others agree with you or not, why are you interested in their opnion then (strongly enough to start a thread about it no less)?
What's the purpose of this?
I seriously doubt anyone could. Same for any other company's plugins. It's far more in how it's used, which can vary a ton, which means its impact and effect on music varies a ton._leras wrote: Sun Jul 25, 2021 9:48 am I'm not sure I could specifically spot a mix that had sound toys 'all over it'.
Anyway I have not used and so totally neutral, but I looked them up and don't get all the harping on the GUIs. They look fine to me. If it's because they don't have that flat, 2-dimensional, boring Valhalla look, that's a plus IMO.

For me at least, I don't have a problem with how they look. I'm not a big fan of flat GUIs, so I'd probably be disappointed if they did that.mixyguy2 wrote: Tue Mar 15, 2022 1:43 am Anyway I have not used and so totally neutral, but I looked them up and don't get all the harping on the GUIs. What I do wish for though is resizable GUIs, they don't have to change the look, just make it resizable.
The fact is that many people use hi-res monitors these days, 4k+ and higher and certain older plugins just look tiny on any modern display.

Personally I do not see how a forum would differ in this regard to any other place. Do you?mixyguy2 wrote: Tue Mar 15, 2022 1:43 amYeah what's up with asking people's opinions on a forum?jens wrote: Thu Jul 22, 2021 2:38 pm So when you have already made up your mind and don't care whether others agree with you or not, why are you interested in their opnion then (strongly enough to start a thread about it no less)?

What is - generally speaking - the point of asking for the opinions of others if you
a) have already fully made up your mind
b) declare that you do not care about their opinion either way
As you seem to have an answer to this please enlighten us. I for one am all ears.

Their plugins and the company attitude are great.
Resizable interfaces (and native M1, which I understand is already in beta) is all that's needed for me.

Because some people like to hear other's opinions or just discuss something generally even though they have a firm opinion of their own about it. And when you say "enlighten us," I think you really mean "enlighten me," since you don't speak for anyone else here but yourself (the same of course is true for all of us).jens wrote: Tue Mar 15, 2022 10:54 amPersonally I do not see how a forum would differ in this regard to any other place. And how you read "I would love to know how anyone else feels" and concluded he doesn't care about anyone's opinions I can't imagine.

I just used Phase Mistress on this track and I thought it sounded great. It’s on the rhythm guitar with the wah.

I kept getting their freebies and at some point they were all, “hey, you can upgrade from the plugins you own…” and the upgrade price was pretty damn low, so I was probably happy with them, considering what I paid for them.
I find they still work great. They’re pretty light on CPU. The UIs are a bit off, but nothing too egregious. Would I buy them today if I didn’t have them? Probably not, but recently I wanted a quick phaser and after a bit of time mucking about with Arturia’s Bi-Tron and not quite getting the results I was happy with, I threw Phase Mistress on and it instantly gave me what I was after. Maybe I just know it better?
I have no idea, but I suspect they’re busy working on a major update. As long as they up the oversampling on the plugins that need it (I’m looking at you, Decapitator!) and clean up the interfaces, I’d be happy to pay a fair price to upgrade.

I bought D16 as the alternative. Despite the inability to upgrade the silver line collection as a whole and having to do it 1 at a time, they continue delivering excellent value… and have actually been updated more than once. I’d have used Fazortan or the free Audiority Dr Phase.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 3:08 amI kept getting their freebies and at some point they were all, “hey, you can upgrade from the plugins you own…” and the upgrade price was pretty damn low, so I was probably happy with them, considering what I paid for them.

I’ve toyed (ha) with getting the soundtoys package or rack but … never saw really regretted skipping it.

OP did a hit and run: they've posted a grand total of twice on the entire forum. i don't think it's an unreasonable conclusion reading the OP to be honest and given the way a lot of forum threads go, where if it's not outright trolling the OP just turns up to try to gain confirmation and if they ever return to the thread just argues the toss with anyone who disagrees.mixyguy2 wrote: Tue Mar 15, 2022 6:00 pm And how you read "I would love to know how anyone else feels" and concluded he doesn't care about anyone's opinions I can't imagine.

I’ve got Silverline 1 and I’ve updated Decimort, but that’s it. Not sure why they seem the only developer that can’t figure out how to do a simple bundle upgrade price, but it’s turned me off to D16 as a company. Lately I’ve been getting a lot of use out of Arturia’s FX Collection, which I think is fantastic.vitocorleone123 wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 4:56 amI bought D16 as the alternative. Soundtoys are good plugins but def not worth what they are charging...there are many more advanced plugins out there with modern GUI.., I guess they want to sell less instead of more affordable plugs because they can't provide support., tells you they are lazy, don't want to be flexible and expand including way out fo touch cause developers on iOS made tons of money selling plugins for cubasis 3
Its like a rental agency, they have 450 properties but pretend there are only 4-6 on the market and they are expensive.
Now they show only a few, less work, higher pay tata, the scam works to float the property market and assure no welfare queens move into the neighbourhood...I can't stand people and companies who think like this, AVID is the same, they signed off to the FBI by working with them to replace all their NIAGRA portable reel decks, our tax dollars pays avid (Digidesign) for all the gear the feds use, AVID then only wants high end post production studios to write off their next tax return on their gear...if you don't make that much money then its all on your own.

Understandable, but D16 have a couple of great fx I like as much or better than those by others (but not all of them). While an option to upgrade the bundle would be nice, I’ve preferred upgrading the ones I like and use along the way.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 1:51 pmI’ve got Silverline 1 and I’ve updated Decimort, but that’s it.
