Who says classical music can’t be entertaining?

I don't know who says that. Probably it's said by people that are not interested in it. There's too many examples of the contrary.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

You don’t know anyone expressed that opinion?masterhiggins wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:25 pm I don’t know anyone who says that. Maybe mouth breathers?
I meet those daily.
Half of those say they like art music, though, but its the same kind of expression, than most of the people watch in tv mostly documents and science, but seldom soap opera, celebrities foolin around or reality tv-bull.
(Not that its anything wrong in that - who wants to be elitistic a**hole.).
E.g. BTW, when was the last time you visited opera?

I attended a performance of Richard Strauss' Salome (based in Oscar Wilde's). It's the only time I attended an opera except for school. Then, I saw a genuinely fantastic performance of Magic Flute, Mozart. It was basically an opera school that allowed other things. Those singers I'm sure went on to careers at the Met.
here's some entertainment
Shchedrin there wrote an opera from Nabokov's Lolita.

i can understand why some people might not enjoy "classical" as in symphonic music or opera, i don't like michael jackson, doesn't make him bad at what he does, just means it doesn't move me.
theres enough out there, for it not to matter, what others think of something, it has no bearing on what i like or don't like

The reason I don't go for 'reality tv', or this shit I was forced to hear in the laundromat, (TMZ) incessant gossip about Kanye/Kim, is not so much I'm an elitist asshole but that I'm not quite that dull a person. If I get called that for my views, and this has not been exceedingly rare for me frankly, I can wear it as a badge of honor, not real different than a trumpie calling me... the things they call someone like me.

I like Richard Strauss' Salome a lot. I’ve seen Wilde’s Salome in theatre stage, too, it was in Dublin’s Gate Theatre, a modern version of the Salome. BTW Gate is where Orson Welles made his acting debut.jancivil wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 3:16 pm I attended a performance of Richard Strauss' Salome (based in Oscar Wilde's). That's the thing. Even people I know who wouldn't choose to put on a classical piece or go to the opera, still appreciate orchestral music at least in the movies they watch. I think some people are exposed to way more if it than they realisevurt wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 3:49 pmyou are aware, it's ok for people to like and dislike different things.Harry_HH wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:38 pmYou don’t know anyone expressed that opinion?masterhiggins wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:25 pm I don’t know anyone who says that. true, im just drawing a distinction though, because even me, who likes a bit of the old classical businesses, didn't go to see star wars for the trumpets.melomood wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 6:00 pmThat's the thing.
