Sadly, it would just solve half of the issue, processing payment would requires card / bank authentication which will indicate the bank country of origin.

@Stan I personally know exactly how it feels and it is utitimately frustrating, my country is under sanctions since 1991 and barely could see websites accepting my payment.

We are just independent people, our art is not funding by any means any of political conflicts, why these sanctions extended to reach us in this inhuman way!

Indeed it is not pretty when you want to buy something, have the money and can't for that reason, but to me it is orders of magnitudes worse, when you have bought it and can't use it suddenly, for no fault of your own.

I tried, site was ok, but when login i got Ukranian flag again. It seems it tied to account settings.
It sad, i am for buying plugins, but such company disicions are disrespectful and push us to use pirate software.

I noticed, Manuel. But when i trying to open refx site, it shows only Ukranian flag, also i can't login to refx cloud. Either refx site was hacked or it is their position to russian customers. I understand that we will meet many more consequences, but i personally didn't expect that it will touch music. I always thought that music unite people and not separate them. Anyway Ableton sent official mail with their position and that they will be unavailable for russian customers. ReFx didn't warn me and simply shut down Nexus 3.

I hope KVR will not shut down for us. It is my most used forum with great people all over the world that discuss music in all forms. Music is one of the biggest part of my life and i can't imagine my life without music.

Did Ableton really sent an official mail about this? I searched and couldn't find anything about a Russia Ableton ban.

Ableton products temporarily unavailable in the Russian Federation
Dear Ableton user,

We regret to inform you that in the coming days we will be pausing our business activities in the Russian Federation. Our webshop will no longer be accessible to customers based in Russia and resellers of our products in Russia will not be able to import Ableton products to replenish stock for the foreseeable future.

Following the ongoing invasion and attempted occupation of Ukraine by Russian forces, Germany has joined 86 countries from all corners of the globe in condemning the actions of the Russian military. At a recent meeting of the United Nations Security Council the Russian Federation was the only country to vote against the draft resolution on Ukraine, calling on Moscow to immediately stop the use of force and immediately and unconditionally withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory.

The European Union, alongside the US, UK and Canada, voted unanimously to introduce broad economic sanctions designed to “cripple the Kremlin’s ability to finance the war”. Similar sanctions have been introduced by countries across the globe, including many that have avoided using sanctions in the past such as Switzerland and Singapore. In the coming days these new measures will isolate Russia from the global financial system by removing select Russian banks from the SWIFT messaging system, restricting the activities of Russian banks and preventing the Russian Central Bank from deploying its international reserves. These measures directly affect the ability of companies outside of Russia to process payments from their customers and are expected to have a devastating effect on the Russian economy.

Meanwhile the independent non-for-profit organisation Human Rights Watch have reported that Roskomnadzor, the Russian state media and communications regulator, are restricting access to social media platforms and censoring Russian media outlets in order to keep the Russian people in the dark about the atrocities against Ukraine, the many Russian military personnel that have already died in this conflict and the huge number of Ukrainian refugees trying to escape the violence.

Ableton stands with the people of Ukraine against this illegal war and we offer our full support to the Ukrainian people and the vibrant community of music makers there.

At the same time, we acknowledge that this is Vladimir Putin’s war and that many Russian people are unaware of the atrocities taking place in their neighboring country. Here in Germany we are also subjected to disinformation and propaganda on our social media platforms and via certain media outlets. That is why the links in this email point to independent, reputable international organisations and government websites to provide verified, trusted information as to what is happening in Ukraine.

It is painful for us to have to cut off access to our music making products to thousands of innocent Russian people who have played no part in these atrocities. We hope the need for these restrictions will prove to be temporary and we will continue to support peace-loving music making communities in Russia in any way we can during this difficult time.

I tried VPN. I can see the Refx site, but when login, it shows the same. It tied with my account info, i guess. Finally they allowed to use Nexus on my Macbook, but if i will loose my data, i will not allowed to download it again. My ReFx cloud can't connect to server.

Wow, reading this I just realized sanctions could get even worse as it relates to software. For publicly traded companies feature development is charged to Capex (bug fixes are charged to Opex), and there might be a legal argument to be made that any software update with new features downloaded is a capital exchange. I'm just a software developer not a corporate lawyer so I could be wrong (and no longer work for a big company with corporate lawyers I could ask), but technically it might now be illegal to provide software updates with new features to sanctioned countries, only bug fixes.

I'm not specifically talking about this Nexus thread. I searched online and couldn't find any info on Ableton banning Russia, except in this post.

The main difference between Ableton and ReFX:
1. Ableton sent official email and warned their customers.
2. You can still use Ableton products and redownload it from your account. You can't only buy anything from them, can't upgrade your Ableton version.
ReFx firstly turned off ability to use Nexus, now i can use Nexus on my maschine, but neither can't redownload anything nor buy anything. If i will loose my data, i can't recover it.

Is the Hardstyle expansion for Nexus the only pack with aggressive leads ? Or are there any others I am missing ?
