I never knew who he was before his reality show, surviving nugent. I just remember seeing one of the games where a contestant on foot was playing chicken with an oncoming truck. The guy tried to jump over a truck and did not make it.
He seemed like a piece of shit then and doesn't look like much has changed.
Yeah, I know nothing of his music or why he was given a show.

That's kind of why I put Nugent below Clapton and above Frehley. At least Yardbirds/Cream era. I'd even rate Paul McCartney ahead of Clapton.Dirtgrain wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 10:10 pm Also, I never thought Clapton was that great as a guitar player. I had a boxed set of his music, and his solos are good--but not on par with a number of his peers. That said, he was part of some fine songs and music, and I do enjoy listening some of his songs. Clapton is God? Not so much.
If there is anyone out there that wants to argue that he's that good of a guitarist, who would you put Ted Nugent ahead of?
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Poor Ace. (one of my favs actually) Ted ....like Ace was as good as he had to be. Alot of times its not about how good , but how consistent. Ted brought alot of energy to the guitar.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.

Here far away of The Americas he hasn't made a significant dent. Not really heard of him nor the groups he was part of.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

It was probably regional. I’m from a town away from where he grew up and we heard about him quite a bit.BertKoor wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 11:36 am Here far away of The Americas he hasn't made a significant dent. Not really heard of him nor the groups he was part of.

I’m from the west coast (US) and never heard of his music.
So when did he become a nutcase? He didn’t seem all too well in his reality show 20 years ago.
What happened?

The only reason I've even heard of him is because he was always next to Gary Numan in the record shop.

I’m not saying anything for sure, but the environment in that part of NJ is very polluted. Maybe led poisoning ?elxsound wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:28 pm I’m from the west coast (US) and never heard of his music.

Maybe it's generational He was big in the 70s, but his records stopped selling in the 80s. He was also part of Damn Yankees who had this cheesy af chart hit.

in the late 60s, FM album radio would play one thing by the Amboy Dukes, Journey to the Center of...
something, your mind, I forget. It wouldn't remind you of Ted Nugent particularly but it was. Acid rock.
Not really extremely good, but certainly more to it than the later drivel.

Happy to say i couldn't listen to him after i heard the first 20 notes of "Cat Scratch Fever". His guitar or his mouth. Total poser and sad to see him bs about his early stuff and lifestyle.
