think you got ur wires crossed...I was questioning TJ shredder not you...if you follow the thread I was actually curious about sound quality from videos, and ratifying part of your point that there can be significant variance in sampler accuracy and fidelity...even in the pcm implementation itself, not just in timestretch algorithms...I haven't compared cr8 to live's simpler/sampler however, so cant ratify your assertionvertibration wrote: Thu Feb 24, 2022 1:25 pmDo you use Ableton? Supposedly there is a manual fix for the Cosmos/Mojave issue.
Does anybody know what that fix is without having to write to Waves support?

Personally don’t like the idea of not being able to use Cosmos to organize my longer samples. That should’ve been a no brainer for Waves.

how long? I have plenty that are a 50-60secs and it does those fine - my problem is more with it wanting to rescan everything and saying there have been changes when there havent been. That and not allowing drag and drop of multiple files from the map viewD7VID wrote: Fri Feb 25, 2022 7:58 am Personally don’t like the idea of not being able to use Cosmos to organize my longer samples. Man, is folder management in Cosmos super flaky for anyone else? It was okay at first but now every time I run a refresh of my library (which it often insists it needs to do even though nothing has changed) it forgets at least a couple of folders worth of samples and has to rescan them from scratch. One time it forgot half my samples including the factory set and it ended up taking over 16 hours to rescan them all. I also experienced an unsupported file breaking an entire folder scan similar to the zip file issue mentioned earlier. There's a lot to like about Cosmos but I'm starting to wonder if it's more trouble than it's worth.

Keep a current backup of these files that are located in the Waves Plugin Server folder:
cosmos.sqlite
jedisBackup.json
wps.sqlite
I haven't needed them yet, but they may be useful to try restoring if Cosmos coughs up a hairball.

Now that I've been burned once I am doing that as well. But, it seems like it's happening every time I refresh my folders and sometimes even if I restore from my backup it's losing the same folders again and again so if I want to add some new samples I still end up rescanning entire folders.

Any idea what type of samples in those problematic folders might be triggering the bug? Just a thought. It may be a certain file type or something that Cosmos is not not happy with.Greenstorm33 wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 1:48 am Now that I've been burned once I am doing that as well. If there are any samples that you suspect, you could create a small test folder to scan with a few suspect samples to try to reproduce the error...

I added about 10 folders to Cosmos, and I can choose to select whichever one I want to see.Plaster wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 7:35 pm I have about 60k samples and Cosmos is working fine for me. I wish we can browse by folders though like in Sononym. Very cool for the price of free
If I want to see all of my samples, I just select all of the folders.
But maybe you had something different in mind.

I have one sample folder which I added and it has a bunch of subfolders in it. I can't browse the subfolders individually without adding them individually and turning the other folders off. In Sononym you can just click any subfolder you want and browse through only those samples.Synth Master Jedi wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 10:12 pm I added about 10 folders to Cosmos, and I can choose to select whichever one I want to see.

I see. Yes, I think I read something earlier in the thread about there being a issue with subfolders.Plaster wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 12:13 pm

CR8 is pretty good, but if i add a new folder of samples it scans every already scanned folder again which takes ages, any workaround for this?

First impressions of Cosmos are not very good, I'm not even half way through adding my sample collection and it's already got issues, the zip file issue is really annoying and probably the root cause of my other issues
supposedly scanned these samples, yet it only shows 12 loaded with the stupid spinning circle loading the other 123302 in perpetuity
Really annoyed at the time I've wasted adding every sample pack seperately and waiting for it to scan only for it to not work (I tried adding just the root sample folder but it didn't like that)
In its current state it's easier to just use Studio One's browser to find what I want and audition because that actually works

Yeah, I really wanted to like Cosmos but at this point I've basically given up. With a sufficiently large library, every time I add new samples it loses and starts rescanning several entire folders, which means hours of my computer fans going full throttle. It's too bad because once you have samples loaded it's great, but adding and maintaining your library is basically broken. I would have expected better from Waves.
