i don't own V1 so cannot comment on usage or the sound etc.. but i googled to find the gui to see what everyone is so up in arms about and for me.. the V1 gui is pretty cheesy looking. i'm generally not a fan of that style of design. the new gui, to my eyes is a lot cleaner.. even though it needs a fix which is apparently coming.
saying it's the worst gui of the last 10 years is silly unless you're just talking about the bug/blur issues.. there are many terrible guis in the world and i don't think Tantra 2 even ranks in the top 20 worst.
ymmv of course and we all have our opinions etc.. let's hope the fix resolves the issues for users who aren't having a good time w/it.

Thinking the version 2 GUI is in any way superior or equal to version 1 is beyond silly and that comes from someone who does actually own version 1 and doesn't need to google what it looks like. I have tried the version 2 demo and the GUI is simply horrid in both function and appearance. It's the reason I haven't and won't update until it's fixed.dayjob wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 5:26 pm saying it's the worst gui of the last 10 years is silly unless you're just talking about the bug/blur issues.. there are many terrible guis in the world and i don't think Tantra 2 even ranks in the top 20 worst.

Version 2 is the most bland, unprofessional looking GUI in recent memory. It is lifeless, dull, and lacking any style or character whatsoever....in my opinion of course.
So yes we all have different opinions but calling each other's opinions "silly" is....silly.

I have both and do not share your opinions. I prefer version 2 but the whole argument is kind of a waste of time. To each their own I say. I can see both sides.Teksonik wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 5:52 pmThinking the version 2 GUI is in any way superior or equal to version 1 is beyond silly and that comes from someone who does actually own version 1 and doesn't need to google what it looks like. I don't understand why it's so important that we argue with each other to seek consensus on things that are strictly personal preference. I do hope that the GUI bugs are lined out for people experiencing those, however.

as i said.. YMMV of course. we all have opinions. yours is obviously very strong about this. i find the V1 gui to be kind of childish looking. it's just not a style i'm a fan of.Teksonik wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 5:52 pmThinking the version 2 GUI is in any way superior or equal to version 1 is beyond silly and that comes from someone who does actually own version 1 and doesn't need to google what it looks like. anyway.. when i said "silly" what i meant was there are far worse guis in the world to my eyes. sorry if it came off as an insult. i stated it poorly i guess. but googling V1 and owning V1.. i mean... i can compare just fine with images.. don't need to own V1 to have an opinion on the gui.
regardless. it's a cool plug in and i look forward to whatever updates fix bugs and add features.

I bought it yesterday on sale...
I demoed it last before my 4k system and I found the GUI horrible too...
On 4k though it makes more sense though...
The only thing I don´t understand: Why do the "legacy..." filters take nearly the double amount of CPU than in V1...
It´s ok and good that he added new filters but imho the "legacy" ones should behave like before...
I.e. the first preset (Flt_Aurora or similar) takes on my CPU 2.6% of all my cores while the same preset in V1 took 1.8%...
If I change now the filter to the new 24db instead of the legacy CPU drops to 1.6%...

I think it was designed with 4K in mind, not for 1080p displays which is where the issues arise, it was something along those lines. Or it was designed ON a 4K system. Its in my emails somewhere i cba to find it.
Was a while ago I asked him mind, seems to be taking a while on releasing it, or is he Russian and having access issues ? Actually from Belarus, so he might be cut off for the time being.

Yeah, that appears to be the root cause, but I'm on 2560x1440 and it still is jaggy as heck.LeVzi wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 8:48 am I think it was designed with 4K in mind, not for 1080p displays which is where the issues arise, it was something along those lines. Aw crap, I didn't know he's from Minsk. He's screwed then and I wouldn't expect any updates for a while. What is the hate with Plugin Alliance? You can subscribe or pay full, and they have deals all the time. I got one of their $300 plugs for like $50 on sale.

You do if you want to compare functionality and ease of use.
Do you also find DIVA "childish" looking or Spire or Sylenth 1 or DUNE 3 or....? They all have a similar style.
Fair enough, style preference is very subjective. I think the version 2 GUI looks like someone's first SynthEdit project from 2003.
I grew up using hardware so I prefer a hardware style interface. If someone grew up playing angry birds I can see how they might prefer the version 2 gui.
Keep in mind Tantra 2 has a normal list price of $199. Of course that's PA's inflated price that nobody pays but even at $29 the gui lets the plugin down in a big way.
Anyway let's see what changes Dmitry will make. Again I'm a huge fan of his and have worked with him in the past. He's a really nice guy and I like him a lot it's just this GUI was a giant step backwards in my opinion.

@Teksonik
DIVA is done well. perhaps it comes down to execution and color choices. i don't own dune or sylenth.. but i don't need software to be a 1 to 1 match to a hardware style.. i think software is often an opportunity to surpass hardware interface limitations and should focus on what those strengths can be. some developers are a good at this some aren't.
childish is probably the wrong word, again, but at first glance it reminded me of Tonka toys or some of the sugar-bytes design choices in their plug ins which i've not been a huge fan with some exceptions. it really may come down to color choices and look of the knobs etc for me but i immediately thought "nope" when i saw the V1 interface.
i still use some hardware and have for (ugh i'm old) 25 years or whatever so i get it. and i understand why people get passionate about interfaces on things they like and use often especially when there is such a big departure in design from the previous version.
regardless.. i hope updates make more users happy w/the interface. it's an interesting plug in.

the GUI fits to the edges of my macbook and the fonts are still very hard to read. Poor font choice and poor font spacing.
It's definitely the worst GUI ever. After using version 1 for so long, this is a very surprising design choice for v2, and very disappointing.

and yet after all of the countless negative comments on here about the GUI and font sizing / bluriness, you still went ahead and updated or bought itsqigls wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 8:03 pm the GUI fits to the edges of my macbook and the fonts are still very hard to read. I wonder what happens if I press this button...
