Really, is there an article or something somewhere? I've always used ASUS Motherboard, Intel CPUs, and NVIDIA gpus and - never - have had a hardware problem, or audio problem because of this hardware combos.
Back when I was doing research on a DAW build, the issue of Nvidia drivers and DPC issues always came up, so most folks on the usual music production forums were recommending AMD as the better option for latency critical applications.

hmm interesting, maybe it's a generational thing or also a DAW thing... There's usually more than one variable to these issues. But, I've always had very stable, low latency, good performance.

Ditto, never had any issue with Nvidia drivers
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I suspect, a lot of people with these issues, their system is anemic somewhere else - even too low of a power supply can cause problems... How many people have underspec'd their power and never realized it?

Or people only think about their GPU/Interface drivers, and not the Mobo drivers or bios updates - which some older mobos will require updates for innovations that are newer than the mobo.

Improperly configured ram, etc, etc, etc, etc.

I've always been very studious and careful, research, take notes, test after installing each thing, etc. Never a problem.

No issues with nVidia for DAW PCs since 2008.

Hey Hey! Jon here (co-founder of GPUA) we are starting with Windows and VST3, NVIDIA GPUs but will quickly be adding AMD to the fray, AU format, and going from there. M1 plans are present but it will take some time to natively support that. In the meantime, when AMD rolls out there should be compatibility for those using eGPUs (external) or networking to say, a gaming PC on your same router :)
Ploki wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 10:20 am Does it support the M1 GPUs?
it might actually start making sense to get the more powerful GPUs lol

edit:
windows only.

too bad, looks extremely interesting.

edit2:
2023. :D
looking forward to this.

We generally are aiming to support the 10xx series and up! Get yourself a 1070 on craigslist ;)

will it work?

Hey bud! The read-me is in the actually installer (I know, I’m having them change that) but you can also grab it from the Discord server. Link to Discord at http://earlyaccess.gpu.audio should still be live. The Read-Me is in the Downloads channel.

Certain configurations seem to be experiencing different install or runtime errors on occasion so we look forward to hearing your feedback! The Beta suite comes out in May and will have all these early issues sorted. Early Access is like, pre-beta (but not quite Alpha).

Where is it to be found?

Btw.: the plugin neither seems to report your company nor even just its name to the host, which frankly appears somewhat unprofessional to me. I'll gladlly dedicate time to beta-test this, but you should deliver a minimum of proper info for this.

Thanks for the feedback! If you drop into discord you will find a link to the bug-reporting form we created via Google Forms! Would really appreciate the feedback through there as it populates a spreadsheet for our bug squashing team :) earlyaccess.gpu.audio has the discord link

So far all it does here is causing a runtime-error though (Win 11, 4800h, RTX 2060)

Hey! The AMD support we are building is just for the AMD GPUs, for actually gpu-audio processing.

Unfortunately it doesn’t want to install here; Image
Dunno why it is looking for something in the above pictured location, while the extracted .exe installation file is being opened from another location?

Thanks for flagging that, seems odd. Did you get it working?

This doesn't matter though. Many people did and thus it was a reasonable recommendation for a number of years. There were additional factors here in that many people didn't care about high end GPUs for their audio machines so taking the AMD route was seen as lower risk, and almost always, lower cost.

I think that not spending money on a discrete GPU is still today a valid thought process for audio machines and the recent popularity of AMD CPUs that have decent integrated graphics means that there are probably more than a few people using those systems for audio.

I don't think there is a problem but the AMD drivers tend to give lower DPC scores at least in my experience. In practical terms it hasn't mattered to overall performance. I'm using an Nvidia 1650 in my Ryzen 5950x build presently vs the AMD4100 that I usually use in my main DAW rigs. The AMD gave lower DPC scores but it was inconsequential to low latency audio performance. Both cards didn't glitch out and I wanted a bit more GPU for some light video work.
