Reason roadmap for 2022 and beyond…
https://reasonstudios.com/blog/being-pr ... riorities/

Post

I don’t use Reason, but it’s really nice to see a developer be so forthcoming with their development plans and priorities. Most just keep users in the dark, leading to anger and frustration in the absence of information.

Also nice to see they are prioritizing VST3.

Native M1 support is still planned for 2022 but for now pushed forward in time. [...] we need to prioritize the delivery of VST3
Now that's disappointing
And as you know Reason works well with Rosetta on M1 Mac computers
No it doesn't. The RRP doesn't work well in any host running natively at all. So many others do using the Rosetta bridge. Reason isn't one of them.

do not expect too much DAW workflow development during 2022
Same procedure as every year then...

There's zero reason to hang on to VST2, time to move on. Why have developers need to maintain two versions of VST for both Windows and Apple? It's no economical.

It's really not disappointing at all, it's time to get into the future. See you there

my mistake, i misread, mac thing thing didn't register cause I'm on Windows.. and there was a pandemic of complaints about VST2 being ditched so that's all I saw.

What I mean is the annoying window resizing bug (window constantly switches size back&forth) which was there since at least end of 2020. No matter which host, no matter which MacOS version... it's not "working well"

I agree. I don't use reason but wished all DAWs did this.

Don't know, I tried out Reason+ last year and while I was impressed with the instruments and effects, the DAW just didn't click.

And while PreSonus doesn't publish a roadmap S1 got several quite good updates in the meantime and Reason is still discussing VST3 support. The just seem to be stuck a few years back.

They indeed are, but I don’t like using plugins in Reason anyway, so I disabled them. I don’t really care for VST3 because the way I use it is more like sort of a self contained groove box with some extra REs or as Rack Plug-in where vst’s aren’t allowed anyway. I understand people wanting to have it, though.
Just hoped that they would have stuck to their plan of releasing native AS support soon…ish..er

I understand that, and I would totally agree that Reason is a fantastic groovebox, but a little bit on the expensive side for that. 500€ is quite the number, especially since you are missing quite a few really good instruments and would have to pay extra for those.

I bought Reason Suite a good while ago and upgraded to 12. I have almost everything

It has to be taken with several grains of salt though as even the little they promise they do not seem to be able to deliver, going by past "announcements". That's basically just cheap marketing because their new CEO heard somewhere that this is the way to go forward these days with manupulating (potential) customers.

There's an interview with the CEO Niklas Agevik that gives some insight: https://speakhertz.com/13811/reason-stu ... agevik-ceo
