That was not the question. The answer to the question is that, yes, for running Modo Bass on M1 Native you do need version 2.

Does the MODO Bass 2 Custom Shop plugin open our existing basses from MODO Bass v1? If yes, which I think is a strong possibility, then I expect you'll still have everything you had in MODO Bass v1 and not have to pay if you don't want the extra basses and MIDI phrases. It would also mean M1 compatibility wouldn't cost extra.

These guys are taking the **** now! That intro price should be the absolute maximum normal price for the upgrade, with a much lower intro price (sub 100), and even then it would probably be too high to tempt me right now. Most DAWs charge less than that for an upgrade. I ain't playing their game. I don't care how good the new models are.

This company does the strangest things. Instead of thinking about the earlier adopters who have had the software for awhile what they did was price Modo Bass really low (~80 dollars the last month). And then because of this they need the upgrade to cost a decent amount ~150 dollars. That way the new customers don't walk away with a cheap Modo Bass 2...
Does nothing for me though because 150 dollars is ridiculous for someone who paid more than 80 dollars for Modo Bass. Just don't put the thing on sale right before you release a new one.
I'm glad the only thing I have in this ecosystem is Modo Bass. (well Modo drum too but that is going after they pulled the 0.5 upgrade and put a store in the software. This is not a Star Wars game, I don't need to go to the cashier for some in game content.

As far as I'm concerned, IK have become a very annoying developer. Their pricing structure is now ridiculous quite frankly. I buy a lot of software (although pretty much never at full price), and I can't think of many other developers that live in cloud cuckoo land quite as much when it comes to pricing!

After owning and using MODO BASS 1 since release, I don't even have to think about it, I'm in, any and all improvements are welcome. Can't wait, bring it on!!.

I have MODO Bass 1, which I find OK. With an upgrade cost of $149, I have zero interest in MB 2. Unless I need Jaco or Geddy Lee type electric bass parts, I much prefer to record my own Fender P & J basses with an amp simulation.

It’s dope they have it available, but that upgrade price is high. Especially considering this could be thrown into the Total Max bundle to make it a mich more attractive deal.
With IK it’s always best to play the waiting game.

I agree that it's a great product, and I've also had version one from first release, but I truly believe they're taking us for mugs with that upgrade price. I wish I could have your enthusiasm, and I would be onboard if I thought they were treating previous customers fairly, but I don't think they are.jinotsuh wrote: Thu Mar 24, 2022 10:57 pm After owning and using MODO BASS 1 since release, I don't even have to think about it, I'm in, any and all improvements are welcome. My perspective on it is I bought MODO Bass 1.5 as my entry to the 25th Anniversary Group Buy, made out like an absolute bandit relative to my expectations, and if they do another group buy this year and MODO Bass 2 is an option I'd gladly pay that price to get into it and see what other goodies might be available. Super gladly at that point, I'm crossing my fingers!
On its own - while $100 or so after jam points isn't cheap, to me it doesn't have a cheap sound. I've really loved MODO Bass 1.5 and it's ended up on a bunch of tracks for me that I thoroughly enjoyed the bass sound of after some processing, so I'm considering the upgrade either way.

What's got me confused is the whole "No fretless capability" in MODO BASS 2 CS.
What if you purchase one of the fretless models in the Custom Shop for MODO BASS 2 CS?
Will your Fretless Jazz model not be fretless unless you purchase MODO BASS 2 SE or full?
Will purchasing a fretless model unlock the fretless feature for other models in MODO BASS 2 CS?
I have 150 Gear Credits left over, and I would like to purchase the MODO BASS 2 upgrade with them, since this is now a Custom Shop product. Will that be possible?

I was using Modo Bass 1 last night on a track I was working on and I had no idea that 2 was dropping, until I saw this thread of course.
I'm pretty happy with Modo Bass 1, I've had it for a while now and I'm glad to see that new versions are coming out.
I took a quick look at the new features in Modo Bass 2 and I'm glad to see them, but they're probably not for me, as I don't see myself doing much with a fretless or double bass anytime soon. For those people that miss those instruments and like Modo Bass 1, I'm sure this seems like a nice upgrade.
As for the price, it is what it is. Buy it, don't buy it, do what you want. As for me, I'll probably wait for a bit, because the new basses are not essential to me and I don't use the grooves, but I'll probably grab the upgrade in the future sometime. Modo 1 is still working pretty well for me when I need a real bass type of sound.

I don't quite get the IK product strategy. So for some stuff we get M1 native for free but for MODO Bass not? Why? Also 178€ for an upgrade of a single product is pretty steep. I really quite like MODO Bass, but it's already really good, so the price is too high for me to upgrade.
