On the one hand, they did add MPE to the SQ80. On the other hand, I found it to be a little buggy (warbling modulations, like some notes weren't sure which channel they were listening to), so I never bought the thing.

Once they have polyphonic modulations in their development framework with all the kinks worked out, I'm sure MPE becomes easier to incorporate into the architecture of new synths (or updates of old synths), so why not?

Not one of the vintage synths they are emulating has MPE capabilities.

Think about it.
i tend to think of MPE as just having more controllers available. in the end it's assignable.. also, in ableton or whatever DAW that supports MPE has lanes for controllers so you can assign those to anything.

also, i can take it or leave it since i don't have an MPE controller. had a seaboard block and got rid of it.

I only own Pigments (and a few effect freebies), so the current crossgrade offer was an excellent deal for me. I didn't even demo, just bought it. Works out at £4.16 per synth, which for the quality on offer, is unbeatable, imho. The best part is that everything is new to me. It's going to be a lot of fun exploring these. I'm already inspired by most of the stuff I've played with.

Best deal of the year, so far. A long term investment. Bravo Arturia. :tu:

There are many great synths in the current collection. Pigments 3 is a great synth as well, but I think still a synth like Kawai K5 is missing! I don't know, I've got the feeling that it is next!

There is no physical modelling synth! So maybe a synth from Yamaha like the VP1 or VL1 would be great :)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Yeah got rid of mine too, but grabbed a Sensel Morph, and that is so much better for me.

Absolutely. If you have none of them then it's hard to beat the price per synth. You are now in the same boat as the rest of us though and you'll have to decide with each upgrade whether or not the synths are worth the asking price. Best keep up though, lest you find out that you are locked out of the good upgrade prices.

I picked this up yesterday on a Pigments crossgrade, and I have to say this is the most fun i've had with synths in a long long time.

I love the ones I have, but these are just a pleasure to play.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

oh wow. yeah.. i'd like to try one of those but they haven't been in stock anywhere since the pandemic started.

I would love to see a Yamaha CS-20/40/70M. It definitely has its own personality. Another synth I would love to see in vst format is the Kurzweil 2xxx. These synths still provide amazing sounds.

Would prefer either CS5 or CS15 myself...

i'm much more interested in weird digital things than more analog. is it worth making more analog emulations just for that one quirky thing that a synth does? isn't analog more or less covered by what already exists?

i know there's more analog synths to emulate if that's what they want to do but it's not like those types of sounds are difficult to come by.

edit: ditto n the CS5 and CS15.. those are quirky enough to be cool in software.

Agreed. I've owned a CS15, it's not that interesting.

Yamaha VL1 would be outstanding and unlike what they have done in the past. I wouldn't do the VL70m (as opposed to the VL1), because it was just the little brother of the VL1. The VL1 was coveted by many, but never sold well, I think, largely because of the price tag and it's being monophonic.

Maybe they could "expand" the SQ80 to include the VFX and Fizmo? Or do one of these as a separate instrument?

Honestly though, the Collection is getting so big that many of the instruments that could be added are getting into the "really small niche interest" area. It's got to be difficult to decide what to add at this point.
