i know there's more analog synths to emulate if that's what they want to do but it's not like those types of sounds are difficult to come by.

edit: ditto n the CS5 and CS15.. those are quirky enough to be cool in software.
As far as I've been told on the SQ80 Q&A stream, it is actually harder for them to emulate digital solutions, because they have most of their experience with analog component modeling. I guess they would keep focus on analog.
What digital stuff did you have in mind?

Agreed. I've owned a CS15, it's not that interesting.
yeah.. there's like that one filter trick or something.. and i guess depeche mode or someone used it a lot so it developed a minor following.

seems like some of these synths could be rolled into one.. like Diva w/different oscillator/envelope/filter choices available.

nothing really.. i mean.. does anyone need another analog emulation? what is missing? what sound is not possible with what already exists?

pigments, DX V and synclavier, etc do lot's of weird digital stuff.

but they're creative people.. i'm sure they could come up w/something appealing.

Would love for somebody to accurately model the Russian Formanta Polyvox.

We have one in the studio but unfortunately it's severely broken. We did manage to get the oscillators working but the VCA doesn't work so they just run constantly. The little we did manage to get out of it was incredibly phat.. like ridiculously so!

I know what you mean. At this point I feel Pigments would do better if Arturia would focus on refining what they already have.

-A bigger and more focused sample library is the first that comes to my mind.
-More than six samples in a "keygroup".
-Maybe more advanced FM
-Multitimbral / way to stack sounds

When 8.2 came out and DX7V got MTS-ESP microtuning, did people with V Collection 7 or earlier get that MTSESP update?

The reason I eventually bought into the whole V-Collection thing is that I was literally hours away of buying an used SQ80 when I saw they would make one. Who knows how much headache and service cost I spared. Not to mention the space.
I did not have the chance to try a Polyvoks myself, but I see people love the sound, but not the repairs!

It won't be included. It will be added to V Collection 9 when it is released.

PatchWorks preset bank (700 presets) will be included with the VC8 crossgrade.

i have V6 and the DX7V version i have installed is 1.9.1.1843

this is the same version available for download as a demo and i assume is what's in stalled when someone gets V8.

i have no idea about MTS-ESP microtuning. never used it. don't know how to access it and can't find any mention of it in the release notes history in the arturia software center.

edit: only found it mentioned in the blurb about the 8.2 update. it doesn't specifically mention it on the DX7V page or in the ASC

I jumped on the crossgrade yesterday. € 149,- was a deal just too good to pass up, even if I don’t really need more synths. Still a great collection, though, I’m very happy with the purchase

However, while playing around with it last night, the only synth that immediately stood out to me was Jupiter-8. After reading up a bit, I can see why that is. I’m not saying the other stuff is bad, far from it — I like the Juno a lot f.e., and the additional modulation options are brilliant, opening up a lot of new possibilities for these dinosaurs. I don’t really care that much about „authenticity“, it just has to sound good imho.

I guess my point is that Arturia should focus on updating the DSP across their whole portfolio in a similar manner, if they haven’t done so already. Noticeably better sound would make an update to V9 more attractive to me than a couple of new synths, possibly with the exception of some unique and obscure Italian or Russian or whatever machines.

That being said, I’ve only scratched the surface so far, these were just my first impressions. Now let’s see what <points at random synth> OB-Xa has to offer :phones:

I still don't think the Arturia Jupiter or Juno are as good as the Tal versions. But I'm liking their digital synths lately. I'm still at V6 but I'd check out a new ARP2600 or CS-80. Also very interested in the Vocoder, but not bothering to upgrade yet.
