My revew of the Mac m1 mini [2021]
I stress, that this post will become a decisive collection of tutorials so to assist your effeorts with an M1 Mac in audio (especially the Mac m1). This will include talk regarding cable management (see image below)

Considering storage and os-specific formatting, organizing your workspace and finding inexpensive tools which allow you to monitor your workflow.

• For instance the addition of a bluetooth soundbar with both a mic and headphone jack will make up for the fact that the only other jack available is in the back of your machine.
• Furthermore, ideal storage mediums such as usb-a or usb-c flash drives at 500gb to 1tb+ for samples could also be a game changer.
• A docking station / usb hub / internal drive enclosure that connects to a usb-c connection seems frivalous, until you remember that the ssd your mac comes with is likely limited, and mac does not natively support ntfs formatting, like that used by windows. Making the choice between a mac format or fat32 an important choice to make.

Use a microphone in mac m1 without rosetta 2 tutorial (fl studio, obs)

The Mac M1 mini is a paltry offering, it's clear to Me that there's better in the m1 mac series, but it does operate, should you be using it decisively. While windows and I have gotten along historically, asio has been been a sour note that's resonated, a method to combine audio devices which all too often results in feedback and intermittent noise that is unavoidable.

I became aware that in the way of recording and mixing, using a mac m1 is capable of doing the same with less feedback and intermittent noise and that's very exciting. Though, admittedly some plug-ins I'd miss in windows. Thankfully I have two systems available.

Here is a method which will allow you to use a microphone in fl studio on an m1 mac without rosetta, furthermore you will also be able to use obs at the same time to record anything.

important: Please note to use this method and to have support for your microphone, it must first be enabled and plugged into your machine before you start up fl studio 20

I've never heard of this technique and I'm pretty sure it's the first time this solution has been posted. I'll work hard to discover more fixes and useful techniques for the mac m1 and fl studio.

the big difference in telemetry on windows and mac is that mac uses it instead to fuel an a.i. like experience, sensing your bio feedback and tailoring the experience to you. However, the security firewall and/or the encryption isn't fast enough to keep up. You need to limit connections to get by on a mac. It makes Me feel that live performance with an m1 mac would be impossible. windows might be better for that, though the m1 will process video, audio faster. Mac is a hella good offline work machine for processing, especially in batch. Great for video editing.

I recorded the following song (below) with My windows computer instead. I set the latency to 25 or 50, fl studio asio. Windows asio can of course be improved by not relying on a realtek built in soundcard. This is due to "asio" also being a reference to hardware-based encoding, that is faster than software.

For instance the older soundblaster card I have has 4 inputs, that's two mic inputs, one tower mic input and also a line-in input. Having pcie input is a great strength in that regard. That's enough input to record an entire band. Each mono mic signal can be added to another, from another instrument.

3. drum/kick pickup
4. lead vocalist/ backup vocalist

Mac has usb-in connections, are they faster than pcie, but moreover; are they also faster than pcie with security settings in consideration?

But, I'd like to state that I feel that mac can be made faster by avoiding the use of encryption and finally the tpm (which causes connections to use one core, instead of being interleaved). Also, if security is less; music will be the priority for your mac and not fighting some invisible foe, turn off wifi, simple.
