Just can't get over how cool this sounds, really loving it. I will be following developments with keen interest.
Edit: Is there a MIDI Panic button? Got a note freezing in a weird way, love to be able to flip a switch and fix it if possible instead of having to reload.

Oh, it would be great if they could do that.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sat Mar 26, 2022 5:49 pm CPU usage has really come down in recent builds. This is running great here now.
A few things:
1. Is there any way to turn off the hardwired MIDI CC assignments? If not, that would be a feature request for me. I'd like to map this using Reaper's native Learn feature but a few of the hardwired assignments make that impossible.
I have the same problem with MIDI CC but in Cubase. I'm trying to assign Cobalt8 to it but in some cases, I can't assign or I'm controlling 2 parameters at once (one assigned by me and the other hard-wired CC in Virus).

I can also agree that CPU load is waaaay better than a few months ago. I put it in a busy project (80% CPU load on average) and I could add a few instances. No need to raise buffer or any other side effects that I could get with e.g. Pigments. Before one instance in an empty project could kill CPU. This is what I call progress

Some people say the sound of the Virus would be "outdated", the code would be "primitive" and it would also sound accordingly.Agreed wrote: Sat Mar 26, 2022 9:08 pm Just can't get over how cool this sounds, really loving it. I will be following developments with keen interest.

Others feel different, just like you, me and many others
Back then it really was a killer-virus. Worse than covid. I guess that is why many people - and competitors - don´t like it

I finally got round to trying this out a couple of days ago. I loaded up a couple instances playing some chords and a bass line and I was impressed by the sound and cpu usage.
I used to have a Roland JP-8080 back in the day but got rid of it due to lack of dual filters and modulation options. I never used a Virus but looking at this it has just the right amount of sound shaping options without being overly complex. It’s honestly made me think about getting the Desktop TI2 depending on how good the user interface is.
Great work on this emulation, I was worried about cpu usage after reading various comments but it seems rather light even when checking the task manager. I sent a just sent another little donation to say thanks to the devs.

Ok found a site with huge amount of rom stuff, load a viruc c,sound is really nice,but... how you change rom, just remove one and copy other?
I did it without exit daw and cakewalk crash...
I guess d rom is kind of soundbank with default library from a synth?

The rom is the code that operates the synth. In this case there are several sounds banks baked into the rom. But to add sounds to the synth you just copy over midi or sysex sounds. There are two roms that work with this. B and C. Each mimics exactly the behaviours of the Virus B and Virus C. There were differences between each synth which are accurately reflected in the emulations. Most people would want the Virus C rom I would think as it has more efx and modulations slots available along with other compelling differences.VELLTONE MUSIC wrote: Sun Mar 27, 2022 5:36 pm Ok found a site with huge amount of rom stuff, load a viruc c,sound is really nice,but... how you change rom, just remove one and copy other?

The roms aren't emulations, they are THE operation system of the synth. They RUN in an emulation.

Wow, just tried this for the first time - sounds great! The VA filter is pretty amazing for a digital synth from 1999.
