I've had FL for a while now but have always just used it (as a vsti) to sequence drum patterns. Since updating to version 5 it seems that FL will be getting more of a work out IF I can figure out how to use the darn automation.

Searching in the manual and on looptalk didnt help me out at all so I thought maybe somebody here might not mind giving a quick run through. :)

Can we start with the basic premise that I have an audio clip loaded in the playlist? How do I go about automating something simple like volume?

Thanks!!

for volume,
right click on the volume knob, and then a menu will pop up. Select "create automation clip" and the pattern screen will change to only an automation clip. Move to the bottom half of the playlist window and paint a box. When you click on what you entered, it will turn green like the automation channel in the pattern box. Stretch to fit. Other automations are similer:right click on the parameter you wish to automate. Hope that is clear, but I'm afraid it's late and I'm incoherent. Spe3d did a nice photo- layout in looptalk. I'll see if I can find the link.

Thanks for the help! I was actually 90% percent there but just didnt realize that I had to paint in clips manually. Come to think of it thats a pretty powerfull way of automating. I found Spe3ds post on looptalk. Good stuff!
