Fwiw, Waves didn't fix the most outstanding issues with both Cosmos and the CR8. You still can't use the sustain pedal with CR8 and it's still using up 800MB/RAM per empty instance - what a bunch of losers.

New in the CR8 Creative Sampler:

CR8 is now available as a standalone application: Shape, manipulate and play your samples without the need for a DAW.
New “Snap to Zero Crossing” feature added to CR8

Fixed in CR8 Creative Sampler:

Improved: Samples’ (96 kHz) minimum length now extended to 30 seconds.
Fixed: In Launch Mode, the play head no longer disappears before the sample ends.
Fixed: Bug causing several notes (instead of just one) to be played when playing between zones in Mono mode. Only one note is now being played.
Various fixes in controls and automation names.
More UI fixes, adjustments, and minor bug fixes
But more important for Cosmos
Fixed in COSMOS Sample Finder:

New: Login mechanism implemented.
Fixed: Browsing samples no longer produces clicks in the Standalone application.
Fixed: All supported files are now detected by scanning (previously some supported flies weren’t detected).
Fixed: “Changes were detected” message no longer prompts in unexpected conditions.
Fixed: Window no longer opens partially outside the screen under certain conditions.
Fixed: Preview issues when auditioning multiple samples in the COSMOS and List views no longer occur.
Fixed: The Vertical axis is no longer flipped on the Saturation map.
Fixed: Various user guide updates and additions.
Various UI improvements and more minor bug fixes
Going to give it a nother try with scanning my sample library, hopefully this time it will actually scan everything and be able to work with folders which have zip files in them

*Edit* tried it still as frustrating, takes an unacceptably long time to load folders in normal view, yet strangely it doesn't have this issue in galaxy view, it seems to at least to be picking up folders with zips in them now, but so far each time I've restarted it, it needs to "update" the folders again because something has changed when it hasn't

I'm done with Waves. The CR8 update won't work under macOS Mojave.
I don't have a real problem with a company "moving on", and after all it's also mainly an Apple issue, with them constantly f***ing up compatibility. But in this case, Waves said CR8 would run under macOS Mojave. Which it did. Just that it has massive bugs. And I expect a company to at least fix some outstanding bugs *without* requiring you to update your OS.

This how I feel having wasted 3 days trying to get Cosmos to work without needing to constantly rescan files because it incorrectly believes something has changed

Installed the v14 COSMOS update and the first thing the damn thing does is drop 40000 of my samples (about six folders worth). No change to the folders or their contents whatsoever since the last time COSMOS ran. Then it proceeded to tell me there were changes to my folders. I let it do its thing and it started scanning the samples back in. But not all at once, oh no. One folder at a time. After each scanning session "completed" it would throw up the folders have changed message, and when I had it scan it would scan in the next folder. Repeat for every folder dropped. How hard is it to avoid these unnecessary scans when you literally have a database of everything in the folders? Or at least actually scan in everything that "changed" at once? Too hard for Waves apparently :x

The v14 Cosmos update "disappeared" all of the previously scanned folders from the Cosmos database. Had to manually select and scan everything again from scratch.

Interesting. I only lost about 30% of my samples, so I guess it could have been worse. Still COSMOS' flakiness is ridiculous for something from a company with Waves' pedigree.

I contacted them about Cosmos and an issue where it just corrupts its own database to the point that it and CR8 cannjot be used at all. They gave me a work around wich took I day out of my life wich did not work. 6 Months later I am excited to get the update of Cosmos , Suprise it had exactly the same issue. I went on their website but the site would not let me Submit a support Ticket, I emailed their support email and got no reply. And whent on the online chat on the website and was told to submit it to Tech Support as Tech Support was outside of thier remit. COSMOS has never worked and it was a waist of money buying CR8 as Cosmos errors. I had no option but to escalte to a complaint and hold them up to thier legal obligations. Thing in allot of software companies just don't care about the customers but love to take money from them without really investing too much in the products themselves. Unfortunatly waves falls into this catogory. IF anyone has a simular issue with a sofware company as customer we do have allot more rights than the companys think you do. Email them the issue with this Following as they have to work within UK law as it is sold in the UK. Your details and contact details, explanation of issue followed by
“Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content should be of a satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.

My rights have been breached because the digital content you sold me is faulty. I would like you to fix it within a reasonable time.”

Can you tell me if your company is a member of a Trade Association ?

And are you a member of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme ?

As escalation can be raised with the Trade associations and ADR scheme that they are supposed to have in place to market to the UK

I neither had this problem nor paid anything for CR8 and Cosmos…
I had a similar problem with a different company and a different tool. I paid most likely much more than you paid for CR8, and they sold the same plugin later for a fraction of the original price. They simply had implemented a feature which was essential for me, but they didn’t even had the possibility to test it. I simply gave up on it, and occasionally gave an update a test drive… Finally after about 4 years the issue was solved and now this feature works…
If you paid the full price for CR8, you can go that path. But you can also think about if its worth the hassle.
You did not tell us much about the details, your OS and environment, you did not ask if somebody else had the same problem and maybe found a solution. For software companies it can be difficult to find the reason for some edge cases. Yes its their responsibility, and you should remind them to take it, but you also need to help them to find the solution. All this will take time and thus money which is much more than you paid and nobody will give you that back, no matter if this route will be successful or not…
In case you did pay the full price, take it as a lesson though, I always wondered if they even have a single customer who does that…

Waves normally offers a demo version of a plugin so that you can see how it performs on your computer before purchase.

So if you did not try the demo first, then you share responsibility for your troubles. Waves cannot test their plugins on every possible system configuration and if issues are caused by something unique in your environment, then they cannot fix it until you provide their support with a reproducible test case.

If there was a universal problem with the product that everyone complained about, Waves would be aware of it.

The last update for Cosmos and CR8 v14.0 was fully functional for me.

i had some problems with scanning my folder and subfolders on my external harddrive..
it works now, cosmos is scanning my ssd harddrive now..
the solution was: (thanks to the great waves support!!!!)
(finaly: deleting the sqllite file and granting access in the apple security settings to full disk access for cosmos solved all problems)

Quit COSMOS (also from the upper system toolbar icon: MicrosoftTeams-image (5))
Go to Applications > Utilities and launch Activity Monitor.
Locate the process named WavesPluginServer and end it.
In Finder, click on the Go menu, hold [Alt/Option] and click on Library.
Go to Application Support > Waves Audio > Waves Plugin Server.
Delete the file named cosmos.sqlite.
Launch COSMOS and rescan your sample folders.

Cosmos is my favourite sample manager now! i have other app like audiofinder, samplism, adsr sample manager, ...
and cr8 will replace my simpler mostly now, just love it!

Tried removing cosmos.sqlite, added a single folder of samples it didn't pick up before, it actually picked up the samples, allowed me to play them in the Cosmos while doing the scanning, but after scanning them decided they don't exist and won't show them lol Going to wait for a sale on Sonynym because that actually works for me

For me, at least CR8 is sort of working now (even if my OS isn't officially supported anymore, which it was before the update - so much about great support...), but it's still consuming 800MB of RAM for a completely empty instance. Which is just ridiculous.
