Dear Friends,

SIR Audio Tools has released StandardGATE. It's a highly versatile dynamic processor, which offers a wide range of options, not only to remove unwanted noise or spill, but also to shape dynamics of various audio signals in a creative way.

The intelligent detector algorithms like "Percussive" and "Transient", but also traditional settings like "Peak" or "RMS", allow surgical and powerful changes to the signal. In addition, the triggering of the dynamic processor can be controlled by MIDI.

The side-chain allows the dynamic of the audio to be controlled by an external signal for creative dynamic effects. The Lookahead mode allows reactive attack envelopes so that transients are caught.

The advanced de-bleeding filters allow excellent isolation of signals, for example, removing spill from different drum mics.

StandardGATE not only contains a noise gate algorithm, it also has ducking and upward expander modes.

Versatile oversampling and flexible stereo options complete the picture.

The plugin has a modern GPU-accelerated interface offering intuitive visual editing capabilities with a smooth scrolling waveform.

StandardGATE is available for macOS and Windows in Audio Unit, AAX, VST2 and VST3 plugin formats. It also runs natively on Apple Silicon and is compatible with the latest software and hardware by Apple.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Yes, but my wallet does not share my hype unfortunally :hihi: but demo is downloaded so if it can offer something that my current setup can't it may change...

If i didn't already have DMG Expurgate i would probably be hyped about this.
The loudness war is over, loudness has won

Wish it had two bands so it could be used on live drum recordings. Oxford Drum Gate uses way too much CPU to even think of using it on more than one source. So far, Cymbal Killer is working well, but I could always go for more gate options.

Edit: the competitors here: G8, kHs Gate, ReaGate, Ableton Live Gate. FabFilter's Gate never clicked with me (the same with their other stuff)
Agree completely. Ive never liked how other gates work, that ive tried. Nice price on this of its sharp as i hope

Just curious : what difference do you think it makes to use this kind of gate plugin, compared to (for exemple) the built-in Ableton Live's one ?

Post

It looks like an interesting design that properly brings together "gate" and "transient designer" functions into a single set of parameters.

Well... I don't need it but i I bought it anyway. I love good gates. This looks to do things that are a bit different. Looking forward to using it.

Hard to get too excited about a gate. Though, a SIRAudio-quality gate might be a different story.

Probably control and quality of sound plus the additional features. But I don’t use Ableton.

It would also be nice to see a quality compressor/limiter from SIR.
