Most comfortable open-back headphone for mixing

So I'm currently torn between Sennheiser 560 or 600, Beyerdynamics 900 pro or 880, and AKG 701 or 702. Which one you think has the lightest weight, light clamp strength, most comfortable velour pad and headband that won't hurt after prolonged usage?

Unfortunately, whether a headphone is comfortable is very particular to the person wearing them, so it's tricky to say for definite. For what it's worth, I could wear my HD650s for days on end.
The weight is an objective thing though - so you could look that one up for yourself
But it might be worth ordering your headphones from a place where you can easily return them.

And to emphasize your point I just bought a pair of HD650s and I find them really uncomfortable. Hopefully I can figure out some sort of adjustment to make them more comfortable but they're not fitting very well for me.andymcbain wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 12:59 pm Unfortunately, whether a headphone is comfortable is very particular to the person wearing them, so it's tricky to say for definite. Barely. We have the 580 (older, but the same design), 600 and 650.SoraAsari wrote: Sat Apr 02, 2022 8:48 am Does 560, 600, and 650 differ in their clamp force and pads?
Because the ear cups are large enough and completely enclose the ear,
they are very comfortable to wear.
If someone has oversized ears - maybe Yeti-esque or something - then
maybe they could be uncomfortable. But then all other headphones
are really uncomfortable.
But what is much more important for us: The resolution of the HD600s
is slightly higher than that of the Beyer (highly treble-heavy) and that
of the AKG (middle-weighted, a bit more overpowered flannelly). For
us, the main reason for choosing an HD600 or HD650.

DT 900 has a good bit of clamp force. Although they make up for a little bit with some of the most comfortable pads I've ever tried.
The AKG K7 series fits very light on the head. Of course comfort is a personal thing, but I think that might be your best bet for comfort. Although Sennheiser HD6 series would be a close second once it breaks in.
The HD560S have slightly smaller cups. And for me, because of the angled drivers, my ear touched the driver. But I have big ears. lol

The Sennheiser HD650 and the HD600 are the most confortable I've ever used. Lightweight, soft and since they're open back it allow your ears to "breath" :p

Assuming you mean NTH 100, these are closed back.SHall1000 wrote: Thu Apr 07, 2022 8:21 am I like the look of the new Rode DTH 100’s. Getting good reviews. Anyone have a pair yet?

I have the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro's and they're very comfortable for a larger pair of headphones, and sound extremely clear. The fabric/velvet-feel ear cushions are replaceable too, which is a nice feature.

My Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pros are open-backed, lightweight, extremely comfortable, and they sound great. I have never removed them due to discomfort.
If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!

Not sure if they are the MOST comfortable but HD800s sound great and extremely comfortable.
