U-he Colour Copy - Noise?

U-He's Colour Copy when inserted on a channel seems to add a lot of noise - at rest its -75db on the channel. Is that normal? It won't he "heard" once a finished piece's level is increased with mastering etc? Is there a way to turn it "off" when at test?

i want something that sounds like analogue gear.
later: no, not like that.
advice: use a noise gate like they used to in the before times.
in any case the noise floor for the default preset is more like -90db on mine so maybe you can indicate what settings you've got to get that amount of noise at rest.

an alternative to a noise gate in such a case may also be Melda's MUtility (in the Free Bundle). It has a mode which silences when the transport is stopped.

I used this plugin a lot.
Floor "VITAGE" adds noise. Keep it on "LOW".

and also colour 3 "Fuzz" adds quite an extra of noise
other colours are cleaner, less noisy in this respect

Lock floor parameter to "LOW" and save as default preset.
Also, par for the course with plugins that produce hiss/noise: Automate the plugin mix and/or mixer channel volume so it is silent in the section(s) of the song where it's not being used.

This is the one making hiss in our tracks
but I like it, so basically only one has the hiss.

-75db of noise isn't exactly a lot though. Anyway, never tried Colour Copy but i'm sure you could dial the noise back a bit?

Hmm i suppose. I guess i am one of those who don't mind a bit of noise, atleast it's not as present in a full mix though
I only compress drums and bass though so there's that
Anyhoo i do like a bit of 'analogue-iness' in my tracks

if you’re massively upward compressing a delay return you’ve probably got bigger problems than a spot of noise in the tails.Ploki wrote: Mon Apr 04, 2022 6:45 pm you can only disable it
and -75dB is a lot if you end up compressing it and then limiting in the master

I believe, when people speak of "3D sound" of analogue gear, the noise floor is a large contributor to that. After all, long reverb tails share similarities to noise floors, and reverbs create audible space.
