microtonal tuning software question

This is taken from a facebook question someone asked but strangely enough I saw it when i was about to ask the same thing - anyway, maybe someone here has some input...
Has anyone here used both MTS-ESP Suite and Infinitone DMT? Do they overlap in functionality a lot? If so, any preference? Any other apps with similar functionality to consider?

Both have trial versions. Both seem somewhat clumsy in practice. Both don't state (on the front page) what part of the MIDI protocol needs to be supported by a synth in order to work properly.
I thought doing microtonality was a simple matter of dropping your Scala or TUN file into your weapon of choice (enough synths support it) and you're a happy camper. But what do I know

You have used both then? Which aspect was clumsy?BertKoor wrote: Tue Apr 05, 2022 6:40 am Both have trial versions. Both seem somewhat clumsy in practice. Both don't state (on the front page) what part of the MIDI protocol needs to be supported by a synth in order to work properly.

I also intend to demo both of them when I have the time to do it before their demo periods expire. I have been wondering the same thing and got a reply for this question here:

Bitwig has Micropitch, Live (11 Suite) has Microtuner, there are more M4L devices.fairlyclose wrote: Tue Apr 05, 2022 10:16 amThanks, that is great link.Love the Vardar Ovasi you link to, tooericzang wrote: Tue Apr 05, 2022 9:43 am I also intend to demo both of them when I have the time to do it before their demo periods expire. if you have one of them with:
https://isartum.net/
i try to learn more about, the real possibilities.
all the links:
https://infinitone.com/
(they have something called beating... tuning is one thing, but also rythm, look at curtis roud book, well... still researching... on my on pace.)
https://oddsound.com/
the integration within synths is great of course, but infinitone says something about MTS, don't know if it applies to soft synths.

It does look good, but does not support individual instruments separately yet which infinitone might.Dalle wrote: Tue Apr 05, 2022 5:41 pm MTS-ESP is as simple as it gets, if your vsts support it, which a pretty good number do imo. Just drag your tuning file to one plugin and others follow.

Not a fan of that article and its underlying ethos, at least as I see it. Seems conservative and patronising to me. Perhaps even suffers from the totalizing it critiques.WasteLand wrote: Thu Apr 07, 2022 6:50 aminteresting read, i think; tuning and intonation...fairlyclose wrote: Wed Apr 06, 2022 10:18 pmIt does look good, but does not support individual instruments separately yet which infinitone might.Dalle wrote: Tue Apr 05, 2022 5:41 pm MTS-ESP is as simple as it gets, if your vsts support it, which a pretty good number do imo. well, again, it happened, lost the reaction, touchpad + mouse, can close tabs... (pity there is no auto-backup...)fairlyclose wrote: Thu Apr 07, 2022 7:55 amNot a fan of that article and its underlying ethos, at least as I see it. Seems conservative and patronising to me. so i keep it sort now, i can understand why experience it that way, and with 'ethos', if you mean 'character', well...
still it has for me a lot of merits, i learned more because of that articale, in a few days, than....
https://isartum.net/
a link that i already linked. is great way to make scales.
but tuning ánd intonation, i noticed it myself, before i read this article, they are tight together.
critique is always important, in the original sense of the word, but i believe this articale can be read, or used, in the way you want. still.
i also don't like articles that pushes you in some direction (even if i agree, i don't have to agree!), but is still open enough, for me, i must add, of course. to have learned more about tuning ánd intonation, in a few days... than the last weeks...
when i do you use scales, 'rigid'..., i always play it with MPE.
the dynamically scales are interesting, and ODDSOUND, has indeed one flaw; it can only do it for all instruments connected. it has been recquisted, it has been considered, but the answer was unclear...
this is another one; beta; so it is unknown what it eventually can do; at this moment not a lot, that does not mean, it can be great. i don't know if it is mandatory to load the plugin you want 'scale', into the plugin, which is for me a no-go...

it seems microtonal isn't that popular?? well, i get that it will never be, as popular as.... but i expected more reactions...
well, as with MPE, it will be a niche...
o well another website to create your own scales;

Heard back from Infinitone dev and it handles independent tracks with dynamic morphing etc. He sees that as central to his own practice so is important aspect. Looks the one for me
