I think Machine X did more damage to NI's reputation than any other product (and there have been a few duffers...) Late, still unfinished and after 3 years not even a decent browser...you have to wonder what's going on...either they are working on something really 'big' (new platform, merger...something company wide) or they have just run out of coders and are limited to 'romper' and 3rd party releases...I hope they sort it out either way.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Oh, I just found out that you can fine tune parameters with mouse right-click.
Interesting, don't know of any other synth who use this for fine tuning....

Funny, I’ve got an old NI tee shirt that says, “The Future Of Sound.” At the time, it seemed true. Now? Not so much. They can’t even implement standard features common in free synths. I’ve got to admit, they nailed the sound. They just need to work on the synth around it.SLiC wrote: Thu Mar 31, 2022 7:27 am I think Machine X did more damage to NI's reputation than any other product (and there have been a few duffers...) I don't really think that's true outside of hobbyist forums. Massive X is generally well regarded by cinematic producers and sound designers. Tom Holkenborg has it in his Cubase project template. It could use feature updates, but the image some people have constructed of a major flop that drove everyone away is untrue.SLiC wrote: Thu Mar 31, 2022 7:27 am I think Machine X did more damage to NI's reputation than any other product (and there have been a few duffers...)

Don't forget that "serious" professionals is a small fraction of the userbase. Their approach differs to the one of a hobbyist (or "small" professionals).bonch wrote: Sat Apr 09, 2022 7:32 amI don't really think that's true outside of hobbyist forums. (Sorry for the wording, I hope you get the idea).
For the former, the motivation is simple - the sound. They will use bare sparkling wires if that sounds.
For the rest, Massive X is better for one reason, and worse for many other reasons.
And a rule of thumb - product shouldn't get worse through it's evolution.
Browser, MIDI handling, long preset switching (Ok, that might be reasonable), uneconomical UI, no mousewheel, and some other items I don't recall or not aware

The browser really is a bit of a shocker. It's not like they don't already have browser code than leverage.
It seems really though that it works well in komplete kontrol, which has a full browser. But if we're supposed to use the that, then it's really not clear.
The synth itself is really pretty good though. Sounds really good.
I still think they should have done more of an extension to the original. It had a browser. Could have just updated the oscs, filters and FX.

Sure, it sounds great...but so does Vital, Icarus 2, Rapid and many other synths from 1 person or small teams....there is just no excuse at all to have not finished basic features that everyone expected and requested this synth years after release. As far as I am concerned NI have just disappointed in the last 2-3 years...they obviously have some internal (often well documented) issues. Komplete 6 was a disappointingly light 'major' update, GR6 with predominantly cosmetic and the inclusion of FX they already had and Massive X was the only really 'new' thing they have done for a long time, so its shame its wasn't better. Personally nothing NI has done has impressed me since Reaktor 6 (Blocks), it will be interesting to see if the next 'Kompete' update has anything new other than 'rompler' instruments for Kontact.
PS Its sort of ironic that NI are currently selling Arturias 'Pigments' 3' for half price on their homage- Pigments 3 is the perfect example of what Massive X 'should' have been.

We're repeating ourselves though, aren't we? Over and over again.
Don't you get bored of this? I mean, there are so much better things to do. Like, using the synths you mentioned, if MX is such a piece of garbage to you. Compared to that, this is a big waste of time, especially as noone from NI, and, especially, noone involved in the development will read this anyway.

No one is involved in it's development anymore though anyway
(sorry, had to, but there's of course still a big chance that it will eventually get support for newer Mac systems, as even abandonware like FM8 or Absynth will probably get at some point in time)

I could tell you now that they updated it to work with Rosetta2, and that they're developing a native M1 version, but, I doubt that that will in any way change your opinion anyway.FapFilter wrote: Sun Apr 10, 2022 10:42 am (sorry, had to, but there's of course still a big chance that it will eventually get support for newer Mac systems, as even abandonware like FM8 or Absynth will probably get at some point in time)
And, why would I care anyway? People should just move on, and stop wasting their time with it, if they're so unhappy with the plugin. I just don't get this negativity, and whining attitude, that's all. If I'm that pissed off with something, I move on. It's just not worth my time. And, if I feel like I could make a change, then I contact the people responsible for the development, not cry my heart out in a forum. So utterly pointless. Sorry, but, that's how it is.

The thing is (not pointed towards you), there's a gazillion of examples of people who actually use the synth. And, there's a gazillion examples of people using something else. It just boggles my mind that there's a few people (that's how many post here or elsewhere), who just don't stop to point out the always same things.
Mind loop? OCD? Depression? Well, you be the judge. I just think that you should try to find the reason for your problems internally, when there's such a mass of other things you can use, which don't piss you off all day long.

Pretty much every post on KVR (perhaps on the internet) is just a waste of time...criticising a VST or defending it...its all a waste of time, KVR is where you hang out to just waste time!
