Well, A while back I won the first stage of the John Lennon Song Writing Contest, and now it's time for the second stage, which is audience choice. If you have a moment go here https://jlsc.com/vote.php and, hopefully, vote for me(eassae in the electronic category)?

I love the piano, and the psychedelic attachments.
I still get back to the serene and lovely piano playing, wiggling its way above the background.
Lovely composition. I love it!!!
A candy of a song. Well done!!!

Super piano, accomplished composing and playing. Nice build ebb and flow of tension, very good track.

Thanks margaret0547. I got into to the piano again on this track after giving it a bit of a rest on my past two songs. I also got the VSL Bösendorfer Imperial that jancivil recommended to me a while back, so I was excited to try it out.

By the way, I'm a very mediocre piano player. for the opening and closing bars I used Chthulu with a custom sequence on my chord progression. for everything between, I put the notes in via playing the keyboard, but I had to go through and fix a ton of midi to make the velocity and timing decent.

liked it. unique with some nice glitch bits and rhythmic elements :tu:

overall really nice.

if you're not entirely 100 % happy with it, it's probably best to put it aside for a bit.

(i do it the same way... but stupidly, i start then to pick the best parts and merge 2-3 tracks into one -this is not always an advantage for me  )

So I reworked the rhythm section this morning with some excellent critique from elxsound in mind. I edited the hits significantly and left many small gaps to let the bass and other instruments shine a bit more and help it groove. Hopefully it's an improvement. I just reuploaded it so the soundcloud above should reflect the changes.

Yeah, I need to put it away for a bit. I keep picking at it, and probably making it worse?

i wouldn't say "worse" - let's say "different" :) . You could keep this version and use it as a reference. And then later you can compare which parts you like better.

Exciting stuff! At around 3:00 it reminds me of Download or Skinny Puppy stuff from Last Rights. Perfect soundtrack for a nightmare or a David Lynch movie :hihi:

This track just won the John Lennon song writing contest in the electronic category. It will be on my upcoming album. Don't have an exact release date yet, but probably in the next few months.

Congrats! I never won anything but a Cakewalk competition with my music before. But heck I'll take anything I can get :hihi:

Song is REALLY cool. It is like an electronic jazz piece. VERY cool!!! I actually have listened to a good amount of jazz.

Lovely goopy, glitchy madness - I always love your stuff - the kind of production quality I aspire to. how do you even go about arranging something like this?
