Any other XP users tired of being trolled on this forum?

There seems to be a real problem on KVR whenever anyone tries to ask a question relating to Windows XP. A pile on from the “Upgrade Your Operating System” trolls. Is anyone else tired of this? Surely it can be moderated? I make all my music on a computer running XP and Cubase SX1. It works. So it would be good to be able to ask questions of fellow XP users without a pile on from the Upgrade Police. Too much to ask?

I mean if the question is "how do I get x modern piece of software to work on my OS that's been deprecated for 14 years?" then "upgrade your OS" is really the only reasonable response.

Yes. And, in the past, there have been a handful of "Bohoo... make your software 32-bit and XP compatible!" fools here, who don't spend any thoughts on what that means for software developers.
If you want to use XP, and live with the consequences, hey, nothing wrong with that. But, frankly, discussing about backwards compatibility, and ignoring the reasons why software devs don't do it is surely not the way to go.
And, I haven't really seen many people trolled for using XP here. Really. Not really.

I keep sending angry letters in the post to developers demanding they support my Amiga 3000 but so far the bastards haven't written me back.

Also, I need to get my hands on Rosetta -1. It lets you run Apple Silicon software on Power PC.
Edit: Sorry, my bad.
I thought the topic said "Any other XP users tried being trolled on this forum?"

There are more things to talk about than just updates and "how do i get...", OP doesn't mention that specifically (and hopefully isn't planning on it...)Greenstorm33 wrote: Mon Apr 11, 2022 7:23 pm I mean if the question is "how do I get x modern piece of software to work on my OS that's been deprecated for 14 years?" then "upgrade your OS" is really the only reasonable response.
perhaps there should be subforums for those using old OSs?

The deafening sound of violins is distracting me from your question.

How many discussions do you expect to happen there?CrystalWizard wrote: Mon Apr 11, 2022 8:45 pm perhaps there should be subforums for those using old OSs?
Most likely not worth doing a subforum. And, I also don't see the point, considering we don't distinguish between Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 either.

i haven't any idea but i think it's worth a try. can always remove it if there's no interest.
i would agree with the OP, as soon as you say XP thread devolves.

Thing is, the first thing I would recommend if someone has issues with a software on XP is to upgrade to a current OS. Because, software isn't developed and tested to run on XP anymore.
That isn't discrimination, it's common sense.
And, if you use a computer with more current hardware, it's actually completely nuts to run XP, because, more current hardware won't even run XP.

Globally, according to Wikipedia, XP is used by around 1% of desktop computer users. Of those, how many use it for making music? And how many of those are here at kvr? Not many, I'll warrant.
The movement for a video forum got nowhere, and I would guess there's more support for that than one for old OSs.

I'm talking about people who aren't having issues, people that want to discuss Other aspects of using older OSs.chk071 wrote: Mon Apr 11, 2022 9:07 pm Thing is, the first thing I would recommend if someone has issues with a software on XP is to upgrade to a current OS. You are implying that all posts will be a version of "how do i get it to work", to them i say upgrade your OS. But there are people who might want to discuss completely unrelated topics.
