Question about assigning midi notes to different channels in Reaper

I would like to be able, before I even enter any midi notes, to assign certain midi notes to a VST on one channel and assign other midi notes to a VST on another channel. For example, I would like to have a track with two VSTs on it, with midi notes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 being assigned to VST #1 on channel 1 and midi notes 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 being assigned to VST #2 on channel 2. I am aware that after midi notes are entered that they can be assigned to different channels, but I want the midi notes to be assigned to different channels before they are entered, so that as they are being entered it has already been determined to which channel the midi notes will be assigned.

I can't help you in Reaper but I do something similar in Bitwig. I don't choose the notes ahead of time but I can divide up chords (or any notes) that way. I use PIZ Midipolyphony > Channel Filter. In a Instrument layer device I just make two layers with a channel filter on each. The Midipolyphony plugin will automatically put one note on each midi channel. It's then up to you to distribute those channels to your liking. I don't know if Reaper has an equivalent to the channel filter because I haven't used it in years.
This won't help you if what you are trying to do, for instance, is always have "A" on a set channel. It won't do that for you. It just takes the lowest note and puts it on channel 1, next on 2 and so forth.
If you are unfamiliar with PIZ plugins, they are free. Just Google it.
I hope this helps you a bit. Good luck.
