You need experience with PC plugins to see if your question even makes sense. If you want to spend too much for outboard DSP, lookup what you need to run UAD plugins. Or, just forget about it, because it doesn't really matter to anyone who doesn't know enough to ask what it takes to run them.

If you are just getting started I suggest you put money into a good computer build that is optimized for audio. Dsp plugins run on special hardware (usually pcie cards) and the cards and plugins tend to be expensive. Native plugins run on your computer without extra hardware and a modern computer can run a ton of them. I suggest you start with regular plugins first as there are a lot of free excellent ones out there and you can put that money towards a kick ass computer.

Would you say that i dont need to worry about dsp stuff. Are these plugins rare anyways? I just dont want to buy plugins where i unknowingly have to buy extra stuff for the computer.

Yes I would say ignore DSP for now at least. You can always add it later. Most computers can run circles around DSP cards now. In the early 2000s until about 2012 or so buying dsp cards really took a load of the computer but modern computers are much more powerful and don’t need the assist or it would be better to buy a faster computer given the cost of DSP. I say this with experience. I have used DSP cards for two decades. They don’t make sense in 2022 given how powerful computers have become.

Regarding your question concerning rarity you can certainly buy DSP cards and plugins but you’ll find that people who do buy more dsp cards probably started with DSP and have a lot of money already invested. This is me but I haven’t bought a new dsp card in 6 years. I built a better computer just as I have suggested to you. I only keep the DSP because I have some older projects which I might revisit in the future that were started with dsp plugins.

you seem to have a lot of basic questions. was just trying to help with a basic beginner type video. you could also use the search function here for any particular thing you are looking for information about instead of starting a new thread. also, google is your friend.warriorjoe007 wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 9:12 amWhat an arrogant jerkoff.
