Well. D*rk does exactly know who's on KVR...

noiseboyuk wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:48 pm Incidentally, as a measure of showing how great the hysteria is, this thread has now been almost entirely dominated by the subject, even though there's no subscription option even being hinted at in the Soundwide announcement. Maybe it'll happen in time, but such is the paranoia here that it's all anyone can think about. Bizarre. Just download the freebies and look out for good sales.
Here's what Dirk from PA said in his Facebook post about Soundwide, I'd say this is more than a hint that a subscription model is coming:

"The creative space has been moved into the cloud in the past few years. A few new and upcoming audio companies have activated a new, younger group of creatives, have excited them for music creation and technology, in totally new ways! Laptops, iPad and iPhones... plus a set of Headphones and some kick-ass software - that’s the entry-level music studio in 2022.
He's not wrong here. I think that even for young creatives who sing and/or play guitar, not much more than this is needed for them to create better output than what we were able to do with porta-studios.
New creatives do not typically spend thousands of Dollars on hardware equipment and software when they start, but they want to have access to large collections of inspirational software, samples & services.
Ok, I suppose that they have data to back this up. I wonder how big this market really is though? I have lots of friends how are these "new young creatives." Very few care that much about having all of that software and certainly not about paying for it.
For a few bucks per month you can use everything you need, and once your new song is on Spotify and Apple Music, who cares about "owning" all the tools and sounds...?!
This tells you what they imagine. They imagine that it's just them. That they have all that anyone needs. Yet the reality is a bit different, what people want is "the latest thing."

Now, I do share this idea that one doesn't necessarily need to own tools that they used to use. We have all dealt with this if we have bought and sold hardware used to make a track. I don't save old projects forever anymore. Freeing yourself from owning though also helps to free you from the mindset that everything needs to work forever. This also frees you from the mindset that you need access to all of the "tools." Where tool is slightly different flavor of the same thing that you already have.

However, for the naysayers, this is all that you need to hear to understand what's in their minds. They want to rent to you forever. I hope it works for them.

Your findings are flawed.
But the window is resizable, which is all that matters.
No it's not. That's what "scalable" basically means.
Wait on, a second ago you were complaining about the plugin within a plugin thing, now you want to complain that they try to make it as seamless as possible. Make up your mind.
Your response makes no sense. Plugin within a plugin if anything makes it less seamless, not more so. And I was talking about the tiny fonts.
My tired, old eyes don't find the fonts small on my 14" laptop screen so I don't quite understand the problem.
Clearly. Agree to disagree...

The time in my life I wrote and recorded the most songs are with an X26 porta-studios...everything since then has basilcay distracted me just getting songs done...now, back to eqing that perfect snare...
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I can see that as well, although, that doesn't play into the plan for grand domination. Having access to too much when you don't know what you're doing just leads to yak shaving. It's bad enough that you want to spend hours eq-ing the snare, now add to that the endless choices of which channel strip is perfect.

Show me on the doll where they touched you?

As for me, I just hope that they continue to release some good plugins for a decent price every once in a while, and if I like what I see and hear, then I will buy it and add it to my collection.

Bring on the PPG-Palm synths! I've been waiting on those for a while.

In the near future, I'll be downloading and testing out my new PPG-Palm synths, and enjoying making music, while others can continue to wish for the demise of things that they hate.

So.....if you're already loaded up with stuff, which of these freebies would you recommend as worthwhile?

The Master desk is kinda neat and the more I tweak the SVT bass amp sim the more I appreciate it.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.
