yeah i hate McDSP installers for windows... just a pain in the ass if and when there is a rare update to the plugins. they seemed to be great plugins like 7 yrs ago but as was mentioned most new offerings from others are equal to or have surpassed McDSP.

ain't heard from colin in ages and his plugs really need a revamp imo especially the gui sizes... most are not easy to work with these days with their small graphics and text.

The EC 300 seems pretty cool (I just got it for free).
The installation is pretty lame - but I found where it put the VST2 file, and moved it.
(it was in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2)

It doesn't seem to be able to access the presets in Windows though.
I'm running Reaper x64 in Windows 10 x64 - has anyone accessed the EC-300 presets in Windows?
It puts some presets in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\McDSP\EC300 Native\Presets
but the plugin doesn't even have a "presets" area in the UI.
Are the presets just for Mac users?
Do I need to copy these somewhere else?
Thanks.
Hi, vst2 does not support presets as I remember.
But I can show you how to get the vst3 presets to work.

Your EC300 installer installed the vst3 presets to the wrong path:
C:/Users/<USER NAME>/My Documents/VST3 Presets

I moved the vst3 presets to C:/Users/<USER NAME>/Documents/VST3 Presets
and now it works.

Thanks for this!
It's slightly different here. I copied them from
C:\Users\username\Documents\VST3 Presets
to
username\My Documents\VST3 Presets

Now Reaper sees the presets as Reaper presets.

There must be a similar path to copy the VST2 ones to. They are currently in
C:\Program Files (x86)\McDSP\EC300 Native\Presets

V7 just been released: M1 compatibility, more presets, hi-res GUI and an extra iLok activation

Paid upgrade

Nice but thanks, no thanks.

Same. I have a decent selection of V6 but I can't justify $29 for each one. I'd be paying over $300 to upgrade. Not worth it for me. I can use the V6 fine.

Post

Same here, only paid about $29 for the plugins I own so not paying the same just for some presets and an extra ilok authorisation

I think the answer to the topics title soon will be very short:
-Is anybody still using McDSP?
-No

Im keeping the old stuff, but no way I see myself paying anything for an update.

Very tacky move from McDSP, what were they thinking?

Thats the way they are. Totally devoid of any understanding and prioiritization of customer needs and expectations. As a McDSP customer I'd advise to avoid them.

Thinking about their plugins and actions gives me one thought - its all so archaic.
I love the plug for great sound and simplicity, but they really need somebody to get their strategy redone.

I can post some good news regarding v7. I have EC300 and 6060 Ultimate both v6 / WIN10 /VST3
There were no vst3presets for both.
Now if you install the demo for v7 of both (or others if you have those) the presets will be written in standard folder
/user/documents/VST3 Presets/McDSP/...
Save them to another place, uninstall v7 and v6 again and you have all those presets working.
For this topic of missing VST3 Presets I was contacting their support but with no reply.
Now "problem" solved.

Never used McDSP stuff and will not use McDSP stuff.
Too many good (better?) alternatives...

I wouldn't write them off so quickly if you don't have any of their products. Most of their products are good. They are high enough quality to still be very relevant today. They are useful. It's just for me, the cost to upgrade each one I have is prohibitive. But just starting out, they are good options. They have a different take/flavour/vibe than other options. I would say in the ball park of PSP but with a cleaner vibe.

I know I said "avoid them" - they aren't very customer-centric. So if you expect tons of feature additions, updates, etc. they likely won't happen. They are pretty locked down. It made sense to update with a more versatile GUI because the lack of this would start to impact revenue.

Paid upgrade, I didn't realise it was paid, explains why the plugin doesnt work after updating.

I'll roll back and they can fk off tbh.
