This one another one that came together fairly quickly. I figure I was due because of the last one. Anyway, it maybe feels like it could go another 16 bars(I did add 16 bars)? Any comments or criticisms are welcome.
Also played with some new to me synths: Dune 3 is great and I used it 8 times; also Obsession from synapse as well—I just used that once.

You got some good ideas here.
Very worth while taking it further, another 16 bars or more.
Sounds good.

Very dreamy, with a intersting soundscape.
the Obsession - you can clearly hear it.
The only thing you might consider a disadvantage with the track is that it sounds maybe a bit "unfocused" - or too much like a dream. The first time I heard the track next to some office work - it was very pleasant and it worked perfectly. The second time was active listening then I noticed it. But maybe it's also the question of what your goal was - what story did you want to tell?
But overall really well done.

That is a good question, and one that I don't consciously think about that much any more(maybe to a fault). It's funny when I was a painter in my youth I always asked that question, and centered everything around the answer. I think that's one of the reasons I switched to music—I didn't feel as burdened by message. But at this point, after 17 years, I should revisit, or at least carve out a small space for more specific narratives.tomtom1 wrote: Sat Apr 16, 2022 7:14 am Very dreamy, with a intersting soundscape.the Obsession - you can clearly hear it.

Also, I think scratch DJs are a significant influence from my past, so the disjointedness doesn't bother me that much, and often like sharp cuts and quick changes. I have noticed that when others think a song, not mine, is hard to follow, I don't have the same reaction.
Definitely something to think about.

instead of "telling a story" i should have written maybe better: what was your intention? (if there was one). it didn't bother me now either - as i said it was very pleasant to hear it while working, but maybe that's something you didn't even aim for. but maybe it was just what you were aiming foreassae wrote: Sat Apr 16, 2022 11:45 amThat is a good question, and one that I don't consciously think about that much any more(maybe to a fault). Yeah, I still just mostly work intuitively. It's either something sounds like it's working to me or not. A journey with no specific destination.
I made some minor changes this morning. Nothing anyone would notice I think. Just softened some attacks and erased a few notes that were muddying things here and there.

This sounds like a hybrid of '00s dubstep and early '80s Tangerine Dream. It's a good combo.
I left them alone for 2 years and came back to them in 2012. I managed to revive 3 of them successfully, but 1 track rejected all attempts at improvement so I gave up and moved on. That was extremely frustrating.
Good work
In April 2010 I wrote 5 tracks, but 4 of them just sounded wrong. I couldn't seem to give them a sound/shape that I was happy with.eassae wrote: Fri Apr 15, 2022 4:39 pm This one another one that came together fairly quickly. I figure I was due because of the last one.

Hi eassae,
Very captivating music. Somebody mentioned dreamy, and I have to agree, seems like I am in a dream. I love the excitement of the unknown, which this music leads me to plenty of unknowns.
Thanks for the trip.

Sounds like a crossover between different styles. Like music for a film with different scenes, so like telling a story. I find it quite interesting and pleasing!

It's funny, when I eat, I mash all the food on my plate together as well
Thanks seismic1, Rene, and 4damind for taking the time to listen.

A nice variety of sounds and some nice compositional flourishes. I think the snare could use some extra beef or a more lo-fi treatment. A little muddy in the low mids maybe. But I liked it over all.
