An analog yes but which one?

I miss an analog sound.

Reasonably priced analog synth ideas of course.

I had a rev 2 in mind for a long time but backed out of the purchase in the end.

There is the Matriarch, but the modular system doesn't really appeal to me.

You can get some pretty crazy analog patches going in the Elektron Analog Four. I really rate it.
Plus you get the incredible sequencer.

really depends what you want to do, do u want standard subtractive, fm etc? wanna play chords or layer oscillators? a moog werkstatt is good

not a Behringer fan, but the Deepmind(s) seem to be some of the best around.
the Sequential Take 5 sounded good too in the demos

and regarding the elektrons: not sure if they are still doing this, but i would get the expensive ~1500 bucks boxes only during christmas sales, when they go for 999 bucks

regarding "reasonably priced ones" that come to mind:

- some of Behringer's plagiarism boxes
- Korg Minilogue
- some of the Arturia boxes

oh, and the SH-01A sounds f**king ace too, despite being VA.
(the other current Roland ACM ones probably too, but never tried those in person)

all is relative though... compared to what real Jupiter 8's in great conditions go for now, even (most) Moogs are true bargains!

all joking aside: Moog and other $2000 or $3000 synths aren't necessarily unreasonably expensive.
deals of the century? probably not, though of course you are also paying for a name or "prestige", but they often also are of good build quality.
not that $300-600 synths need to be of bad quality, but large sturdy builds simply can and will be more expensive, even if it may be just 5% difference to the eye or actual touch.

A very good Moog product is the Subsequent 37, but monophonic.

A plus, it has patches.

Sequential not bad, but horribly expensive.

2600 euros a rack module, not cheap.

I really hesitated with a Rev 2, but some people complain about the quality that could be improved.

The price in the 2000 euros maximum.

If more than 2000 it must be exceptional, both the sound and the control capabilities.

on the other hand to be honest I don't care whether it's Sequential, Moog, Behringer or others.

I just want a good machine with good sound, possibilities for tweaking the sound, an arpeggiator and a sequencer.

My current fave polyphonic analog is the Dreadbox Nymphes ... can be found for around £400. Add a Keystep and you have a sequencer & arpeggiator too.

It’s got a lovely timbre, it’s quite fiddly though to navigate.

Sequential is a small company where everything is (mostly) made in America. Of course that means assembly from parts all over the world, but it does add to the cost. They also tend to include a lot of features that companies like Behringer don’t bother with, so while they’re pricy, I feel they’re worth it.

I’ve got one (16 voice module) and I have no issues at all with the quality. I highly recommend it. Maybe not the fattest sounding oscillator or filter, but it does have a great character that’s modern but also reminiscent of the old Oberheim Matrix synths (which used a similar voice chip). It’s also got plenty of, voices, modulation and a great mod matrix, including parameter sequencing, so you’ll not really grow bored with it.

not sure where you're located, but here in germany, the Sequential is actually 166 Euros cheaper than that Moog at Thomann (1499 Euros for the Subsequent 37 vs 1333 Euros for the Take 5)
