Same track on DAW vs on Vinyl - where is the best sound?

Hi there fellow musicians!
I produce drum´n´bass since 1998 on DAWs, before that, I played some drums and guitar on punk bands.
I am fortunate enough to have some of my Drum´n´Bass songs cut into vinyl. As I am making some changes in my Hi-Fi system I did some recordings to do some tests (before/after).
As I also have the original digital files, I decided to do a test where I play the same song in 2 different formats: the original file that came out from my computer that was the file used to cut the vinyl against the vinyl dub plate.
NOTE: UNLIKE TO WHAT I SAID IN THE VIDEO, these records that my friend cut do NOT degrade like I mentioned. That happens to lacquers and this is not the case.
Remember, this is not a scientific experiment, it´s just to give an idea of the difference between the 2 formats: vinyl and digital.
Remember that vinyl changes alongside with time so it´s like having a low pass filter acting as it runs.

The vinyl would have mastering, and specifically for vinyl. It sounds better because it's "EQed" differently. You could EQ the digital version and probably get it to sound like the vinyl.

I like the DAW version better as it has more clarity and it sounds more balanced in my ears.

which is best, will also be skewed by age bias, those of us who lived with vinyl have a nostalgia for the sound of vinyl, that crackle as you drop the needle
that's a sign for us, something beautiful is about to happen!

if you never went through records and started on cd or streaming, that crackle is meaningless noise.

what should matter anyway, is the music, not the medium.
get that right, people will forgive any mixing or medium specific noise

Can't argue with that. Love my vinyl! Imo the master has a deeper sound which sounds better in my studio.

In fact, I had a little play. Just run Ozone AI (CD/High) on it and hear all the bass added. The digital version then sounds much better, as the vinyl sound really narrows the image.

Easy to try.

i was tidying at my mum's, and found an old 7" my band did in 1990.
hadn't heard it since around then tbh, so played it
i think i preferred it when i hadn't heard it for years

We released a single-sided clear vinyl 45 rpm 7" ... got us a review in The Wire.
Dunno if it sounded better or not on vinyl, but it got the track played.

Different kind of degradation... LP filter as it plays the record (normal stuff for vinyl), not the number of plays you can get on a record before sound degrades...

Easy to try.

To cut a vinyl is a true art as you have to control, at least, 5 or 6 parameters at the same time and all count. From level to frequency, from the amount of bass to the amount of stereo wideness...
It´s not easy! There is a video of Sound on Sound on Abbey Road where they interview mastering guys that cut vinyl. Everything is very well explained there!
