In other words, it is “obandaware”.

Post

Yup , its dead, theres no way refx would move backwards

I got really excited seeing the title of this thread until I realized it’s a 68 year old thread

How long ago?
Refx support told me last year that new version was being released.

Vanguard 2 would be cool.
But I would like to see a Quadra SID 2, too.

Maybe an Octa SID? 8)

reFX is a company i didn't support. They can release whatever they want, doesn't matter anymore! .:phones:

they said that in like 2014 and they promised that it would need a dongle to run.

Well old vanguard 1.8.0 works fine with jbridge for me. Well native VST2 64bit or VST3 would be even better. Vanguards sound is still unique and none of the those Tone2 synths can replace it for me.

Guess Vanguard 2 wont happen as, well Nexus 4 (or whatever version number it will have in the future) just sells better w/o any extra afford.

i will like to see a new Plastic, make it happen reFX

Knowing the history of both ReFX and Tone2 it's not going to happen.
It's as likely as Valve releasing Half-life 3.

C'mon, no good comparison, Alyx is a masterpiece!

Post

Alyx isn't Half-Life 3, it's a VR spin off. ;)

Anyway, unless Tone2 owns any rights on Vanguard, I don't see why refx wouldn't/couldn't do a version 2.

They do and Markus elaborated on that and (non-)possible collaborations multiple times.

I think there's no reason or need for Vanguard2 at all. So much has changed for the better with regards to synths on the market.

As far as I can see, he said that he licensed the "audio engine" to them. No word about the plugin itself: viewtopic.php?p=8395284&hilit=vanguard#p8395284

I highly doubt that he owns the Vanguard rights. Imagine what that would mean, if a developer who was hired by a company to code their plugin, and then he owns the rights of the plugin. It would basically mean that they could never do anything with it again, unless the original developer gives back those rights (or allows them to do a version 2 on his conditions). I doubt that that is the case here.
